The Machinery Of Death

A perfect example of why organized religion filed with hypocracy and bigotry is the number one turnoff for me. Granted, many of those I know are not near so openly hostile and insane as “Dr. Life” here, but the familiar glimpses is enough to make my skin crawl. Some classic quotes, direct from this trainwreck of a blog:

Um. WHAT??

Ok - so. Remember back a few days ago when I mentioned that The Boy discovered that he wasn’t really invisible to girls? And how pleased he was to discover this fact? and how I was wimpering and crying cuz dammit, that’s my BAYBEE BOY and well, I’m not old enough for this?

WELL.

The boy walks in from School today, and OH so casually says “I might need a ride tomorrow, mom.” and I look up and he’s holding out a little scrap of paper. On it is A GIRL’S NAME AND PHONE NUMBER!

a PHONE number !?!?!?!!!!!! I….blink, and look at him, and growl something like “Wha…??”

And he just GRINS all full of hisself. “She asked me to go to the movies with her tomorrow. I’m supposed to call tomorrow to get the showtime from her and we’ll meet there.”

um. EXCUSE ME? WHO said this was OK? WHO SAID HE COULD GO OUT WITH A GIRL??

I managed to keep my calm (and not burst into tears. MY BAYBEE!) and ask a couple questions, and it’s likely a group thing, but she did ask him specifically, and he has her phone number, and they’re going to see Cheaper by the Dozen 2, [um, which actually isn't playing locally right now, so don't know what they're gonna go see instead] so the movie is approved [er, see previous asside. heh. They'll likely hit Narnia instead, though.], and well… well.. it’s my BAYBEE dammit! But I swallowed and nodded and he just looks so goddamn PLEASED with hisself that I promised him the ride, and that we’d rearrange his appt with Miss A and his haircut if we needed too and GOSHDARNIT WHY does he have to GROW UP! I’m not READY for this shit!

But I did the SENSIBLE mommy thing, and I grinned at him approvingly and boosted his ego, and promptly called and yelled at his Grandpa:

G: Hello?
Me: WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING MY SON?
G: Uh. something good - I’m sure.
Me: HE GOT A GIRLS PHONE NUMBER TODAY!
G: Well ALRIGHT BOY!
Me: ARGH!

Then I called his grandma, who says she is feeling like taking in a movie tomorrow - much to the boy’s complete mortification, then I called his Auntie, who said “GOOD for HIM!” and I banned him from her house, and then….

then…

I sucked it up.

My boy is growing up. *SOB* I’m not READY!

So! Gramma made a big ole pot of beans and needed some cornbread to go with it, so it was time for The Girl to give her new Christmas Mixer a test drive. Sure, it wasn’t the kitchenaid she had asked fore, but it’s a good starter set. Anyway! Just lookit that smile - and the cornbread was delicious! A perfect accent to the soup gramma had made.
