And then there were two… we’re down to Brooke and Christa who are told that since Matt has to work the farm all morning, they get to play life for a day and do chores. He gives them each a list, and sends them off. What does a country wife do? Apparently, catch chicken, pick up car parts, grocery shopping, trips to the taxidermist, tractor parts, horsefeed and picking up pies. Yum.

Christa makes things awkward at the local store by asking for condoms while buying some ugly sunglasses for Matt, then continues the trend by getting horse feed for “pleasure horses because who doesn’t love pleasure?” Ok then. Christa makes it back first, to find MAtt waiting with lunch, while Brooke is trapped by the passing train, but gets points for getting the right part though she hadn’t been told which one to get by Matt.

Each girl gets a private one on one date – and Brooke only gets 30 minutes to get ready. Matt takes her out four-wheeling because he sees her as more the outdoorsey type – good call, as they get all smoochy and loveydovy even though Brooke doesn’t tell him she loves him.

Christa has had 4 hours to get ready, and is picked up on a horse-drawn carriage and Brook instantly thinks she’s blown it and it’s all over and she’s pretty upset. Christa is taken to Matt’s house, where they have dinner and she makes 80293483 references to how nice a ring would look on her finger. OK, it was only one, but COME ON, doesn’t she know better? Really? They make out, and he takes her back where she promptly tells Brooke they made out and Brooke is even more convinced she’s toast.

The next day the girls get all dressed up and the whole town shows up outside. Matt tells makes a rather awkward little speech (including saying “Christa is ready to do it anytime” which isn’t what he meant at all, but is actually a completely real representation of the Christa we’ve come to know..) and lets them know a crop duster will fly by with the banner that declares his love for the winner, and who he’s picked as his wife.

The women are about to cry, Brooke looks like she wants to throw up, and the banner comes around and it’s BROOKE! Nice job editing team – I totally thought it’d be Christa! But nope, it’s Brooke and after a tearful goodbye to Christa, she and Matt ride off into the sunset on that red tractor.

Buddy TV reports that Brooke and Matt are still together, that they haven’t been able to be seen in public this whole time so aren’t getting married tomorrow or anything. Brooke is moving out there to be near him in a few days, and they’ll date and see where it takes them. Congrats and best wishes, Matt and Brooke!

I called it! Or well, I hoped really, really hard and while I was sad to see Joey and Rory bobble in their last and most important performance, I couldn’t have been happier to see a final two between Brownell and Richie against Caitlin and Will! We all know who my favorites have been since they sang together the first time, and to see Caitlin and Will hit it out of the park in those last two shows? BOOYAH!

It was close, Brownell and Richie put in a good show too, but no one can deny the powerhouse voice that Caitlin has, and Will has improved and gotten so confident and the blend is SO GOOD – I swear you don’t expect that voice to come out of such a teddybear! It was just fantastic to see the underdogs pull out the win over the pretty boys. They sang “Stupid boy” and then their new single “Love is” that will be released by Sony – as Will said “We’re gonna work our hardest to make buttloads of money for Sony since they gave us this song!” Ha!

Congrats to Will and Caitlin – and to the judges for doing it right. *grin*

As soon as youtube gets videos up of their performances, I’ll get them up for you too. Until then, you can catch all the finale performances here at CMT.

Here’s Caitlin and Will performing “Never loved at all” in the next to last episode – their first love song of the competition (by design – they wanted to wait till the right time.. clearly this was it!) and man they knocked it out of the park!

And here’s they’re new single, Love is.

This week on Can You Duet! we went from five duos down to the final four.

My adored country rockers had to wait till the end of the show to see if they made it as the harmonies were a little off, despite Caitlin and Will rocking the stage like always. Will even ditched his trademark do rag to hold back his hair and looked mighty fine up there on stage.

Joey and Rory, Naomi’s darlings, had them all in the palm of their hand – making me wonder why they just don’t stop kissing their ass and give them the prize already.

I’m all for authentic old time sound, but come on, it’s 2008! Gimme that Country Rocker Spirit!

The Cappolas finally broke through the wall with Naomi after commenting backstage that it’d be easy to like her if she didn’t hate them so much. Ha! Ms. Judd finally felt some connection and openness from the pair and praised them for it, as did Amy. They still had to wait though, as they only got two of the three judges to commit to their moving on.

Brownell and Richie also did well, and were rewarded with another week to compete, as they grow more and more confident on stage and with their presence, and as such, we say goodbye to Johnson and Oakleaf who will have to come to terms with their fifth place finish. They were a duo put together by the judges during auditions, but they couldn’t quite pull it together enough to win in the end, though the judges did encourage them to keep practicing, stay together and keep trying, that they’d do well eventually. Just not now. Awww.

So it’s down to the final four – Caitlin and Will, Joey and Rory, The Capollas, and Brownell and Richie. You all know who I’m pulling for, but who do YOU like?

  • Hey! You!

Yeah you! All this bullshit I write? Is mine. So keep your hands off, will ya? I'm sure you could totally come up with better shit on your own.

Also - dude. All opinions stated herein these pages are my own, and not those of anyone I might work for. Just in case you think I'm slamming something important, like, oh, say, my work place. I love my job, my co-workers, and anything that you might think is about you? Well, you might be right. Just remember I show my affection by endless nagging, picking on, laughing, etc. :) We're adults. Well. I am. On the outside.
