Oh.
Em.
Gee.

And I thought I walked a lot doing the 18 different jobs that I normally do! I am one TIRED and BEAT UP puppy today, and look forward to having another day to recuperate tomorrow, before I head back to work on Monday.

I am SO OVERWHELMED. So much info, so fast, and now I have to do it all on my own this next week. I’m just hoping that I don’t mess it all up. There’s a good group of girls working in my new area though, and they’ve all promised to have my back the next few days, and we’ll muddle through it all together.

Of course, I’m STILL running back and forth to the Photo Department to save their asses there too. I have always called that job security – now I think I’ll simply call it exhausting. heh.

I hit the Foot Flare-n-Wear again today, for a new pair of shoes. The ones I got just three months ago were good to start with, but had already started to break down, and I was in pain again. So we try a new model. A $259 model that I swear must be made of gold or something. They feel good now – we’ll see how they feel on Monday. Heh. I do see a lot of our associates wearing them, so hopefully they’ll do good for me too.

Oh! And on my first day, while I was at lunch, these were delivered to my new home:

My coworkers are all suitably jealous. Thanks Mama!

Also: please can I have my voice back? I lost it and can’t find it. If you see it running around, could you please return it to me? This is getting ridiculous!

[When customers ask me if I lost my voice - I just nod and whisper "Have you seen it? I really could use it back... if you do, chase it back my direction will ya?" and they stare, then they laugh. I love my job. *L*]

So. Keep your fingers crossed for me this week will ya? I’d appreciate it!

It started two days ago. T, from personnel came up to the Photo Desk where I was working and told me that I needed to change my career preferences, immediately. There were a couple positions opening, and ‘can you do it there, on that computer because I mean do it now. No, like right now.’ So I did.

Yesterday, I was elbows deep in our HP printer, getting it to realize that yes, we’d changed the overspray tray the day before, and Assistant Mgr W comes up and says “Got a minute?” and when I said yes, followed up with “Good, I’m going to interview you now. let’s go.”

That’s when I passed out.
Just kidding.
(but I did instantly panic!)

So we interview for the position, and it went pretty well, I thought, because W loves me anyway, and well, I could sorta tell that he wanted me for the position, and all -specially with T telling me about the preferences and stuff. And, of course, there was the part where he said “So, what you’ll be doing is… uh, I mean, IF you get the position…” Hehehehe!

So, after the interview, he tells me that he’ll let me know today if I get it. And that left me to be nervous and ask all of you for the good vibes to be sent my way. And that brings us to today…

Mgr W wanders past me once. twice. three times (a lady… wait.. no..) and just says hi, how’re things, and wanders off again. Leaving me to be all hyperventilating and stuff. I let my co-worker know what was going on, and stuff. Then, finally, Mgr W wanders around my counter and says…

W: so, having fun?

And I died. And then resurrected to go “OMG PLEASE JUST TELL ME!” At which point he did, and said that after his lunch, we’d do the paperwork and he’d offer me the job – and we’d make it official.

WWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

So, that resulted in me getting the weekend off, and I start at 7am Monday, where I’ll train side by side with the girl who’s place I’m taking and try to learn absolutely everything during the next week. :) There was no problem with my time off already requested and approved for TBF’s wedding, though I do have to work a full shift beforehand, instead of the half I was gonna. No biggy, I’ll catch a later flight from Kenai, and still make the red-eye. And best of all…

Mgr W: I have a TREMENDOUS amount of confidence in you. That’s why I offered you the position. You’ll do good.

So. That’s how I got a promotion today, and why you’re all now reading the blog of the brand spankin new Merchandise Supervisor of Jewelry at our Local Walmart. :)

All together now…

WWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

A bit of excitement at work yesterday!

Mr. AP (asset protection) asked for backup, as he needed someone to get into the ladies room where a suspected shoplifter was doing exactly what he alleged she was doing! Now, I’m not much of a lady, but I agreed to go in anyway, and see what I could hear and see. (Not approach her, simply gain info. Dammit. I was looking forward to going all Law and Order on her ass!) It was quite obvious what she was doing.

Alas, she was a bit sneakier than I, and I didn’t find the wrappings right off. However – Ms. Shoplifter? I know your secrets now, and you owe me for the injury suffered while getting the remnants of your nefarious deed from the TP holder!

Think I’m kidding? LOOK:

The redness has faded now, but I am sporting a bruise.

So beware, Shoplifters everywhere… we’re totally on to you! And it’s my bonus you’re stealing – so next time? Law and Order, baby!

(Man, I love my job! :) )

So, my lil blog crush, Adri, (who’s probably blushing already since I called him my blog crush again) he’s been insisting that he get to see something that I’ve written, since I’ve been bugging him relentlessly about his own writing and he finally caved and posted excerpts. At which time I totally wanted to hide because OMG he’s good, and I can’t ever hope to compare with THAT… AND he’s actually submitted something that is under consideration and holy wow.

*Inhales*

So. Because he asked so nicely (cough) and insisted, and even offered to read my bits of fluff that is totally not his usual style and offer crits for me if I could ever manage the guts to send him AbO and have him look it over… I shall relent and post a little ditty I wrote one day after seeing a sparrow – I think. I don’t remember why it came, it just did. Likewise, I dunno where it was headed, if it was going anywhere, or if it was simply all told in the 500 or so words that I pounded out one day last year. All I know was it was a story to be told, so I told it. Sorta. *g* He wants to read a bit of my first person memoirs of memories not my own… so… after the cut!

Be kind. (Rewind. hahah!)

Some folks take themselves WAY to seriously.

Writer’s write because we cannot ‘not write’.

Note: Writer’s don’t write for the money. That’s an added benefit for those who get such deals, but I don’t see how that could ever be a main consideration. Sure, i’d love to get paid millions for my drival, but I’m a realist. I write because I love (and hate!) it.

And the millions of bloggers who do that too are not hurting the writers that want the cash first. Bitch at the editors and publishers who favor the little guy who has an opinon sometimes over the big wig who thinks too highly of his own opinion…

I mean. Seriously.

Seriously!

/PSA.

  • Hey! You!

Yeah you! All this bullshit I write? Is mine. So keep your hands off, will ya? I'm sure you could totally come up with better shit on your own.

Also - dude. All opinions stated herein these pages are my own, and not those of anyone I might work for. Just in case you think I'm slamming something important, like, oh, say, my work place. I love my job, my co-workers, and anything that you might think is about you? Well, you might be right. Just remember I show my affection by endless nagging, picking on, laughing, etc. :) We're adults. Well. I am. On the outside.

[Thus ends the 'Behave or ima kick your ASS' portion of this blog.]
