Homework hell..

Posted by Lessa on September 6, 2006 in family, this-n-that |

So. School not only means “Lessa’s Nap Time is back in force!” but also Homework Hell has begun again, en force. The boy has been doing his in class – and surprisingly has been pulling straight A’s so far. Hopefully he’s totally going to keep it up – because man, a repeat of last year will likely KILL me. Heh.

The girl has been pretty good about doing her math homework, but I’ve already had to start nagging her on others. Hopefully starting nagging THIS early will again, stop a repeat of last year.

The pup. Oh the pup. Hand her a stack of math papers? and she’s one happy kid. See?

But reading? STILL a battle in the never-ending war. She loves her new book… for the pictures. Getting her to read is an exercise in frustration. At one point I grabbed my book. “Look! soon! you’ll be able to read things like this!” and gave here the “yay! knights and dragons and sword fighting and its so COOL!” rundown…. at which point the boy stole my book. heh. So after beating him bloody* I returned to convincing the pup she needs to take baby steps to get to the cool stuff.

Alas…. it’s not sunk in for her yet. PLEASE let her flip the same switch her brother and sister did this year! PLEASE!

* I just wanted to be cool like Schnozz and have a footnote. Oh. And I really don’t beat my kid’s bloody. Just once a day, whether they need it or not. Like a redheaded stepchild. Heh. **

** For those thinking “HEY! BAD LESSA!” – Get a grip – I’m totally kidding. I find bruising patterns MUCH more exciting then actual bloodshed.
