CBS orders 3 new reality shows!
. Thanks to the continuation of the Writer’s Strike that is still going on and on and on, CBS has already given us a Winter version of Big Brother starting February 12. Seems that’s not enough for the bigwigs – there’s an awful lot of primetime real estate to fill, and only so much reruns we can watch. So what’s a network to do? Dredge up some more Reality TV, that’s what!
In today’s press release, CBS announced not one, not two, but THREE more reality shows in the works!
CBS has ordered three new alternative/reality series for broadcast later this year – the biweekly celebrity talent contest SECRET TALENTS OF THE STARS, the hidden camera game show GAME SHOW IN MY HEAD and the search for AMERICA’S TOP DOG. The series were announced by Ghen Maynard, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming & Entertainment Content for New Media, CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group.
Secret Talents of the Stars is going to be a biweekly talent show where we get to see secret talents of our favorite film and tv stars. You mean they can do something besides act?!? Of course, depending on what they classify as ‘celebrity’, some of them might not be able to do THAT either. Time will tell. It’ll be a tournament type format to decide who has the best hidden talent. There will be judges, of course, to give off their point of view, but the results will be blamed on the viewers which get to vote on their favorites. It is executive produced by Robyn Nash and Don Weiner for Magic Molehill Productions, Inc.
Game Show in my Head sounds like it’s Jackass Got Punk’d for Primetime Networks, and is brought to us by Ashton Kutcher & Jason Goldberg so that shouldn’t be a surprise, huh? It’s a hidden camera game show that has the contestants wear an earpiece as they go through the city and are instructed to do stunts. Preform the crazy and embarrassing tasks in public – win big money. Don’t do even ONE task, and go home. It’s all about how far the contestants are willing to go. It’s from fox21, produced by Hat Trick Productions and Katalyst Films, Inc. with executive producers Jimmy Mulville & Leon Wilde and Ashton Kutcher, Jason Goldberg & Karey Burke.
And third, this one makes me go “…no, seriously…?” and look around for Kutcher myself. America’s Top Dog will be an hour-long search for the best trained pets and their owners. The owners and their pets including both pageant dogs and home-trained pups, will live together and battle it out to see who has raised and trained their dog the best. Its supposed to put the dog’s relationship with the person who raised and trained it to the test. Only one team of “loving owner and faithful dog” will win in the “dog-eat-dog” competition. It’s executive produced by R.J. Cutler, Stu Schreiberg and Stephen Kroopnick for Magic Molehill Productions, Inc.
So – would you watch any of them? None of them? Do tell..
