Nashville Star's Top 7
We start off tonight with a heart attack for Lessa! We’re told that the first two names called, one has the most votes and the other is eliminated – and they call Melissa Lawson and Tommy Stanley to the stage! Now I know that ya’ll couldn’t possibly have brought Tommy back, really? Thank goodness you didn’t, and Melissa is the top vote getter after last week! Whew! After Tommy goes, she performs Danny’s Song, which started a bit soft and nervous, but showcased her voice well in a softer style.
Next up, Laura and Sophie are safe. Sigh. They’re bickering and buckling under the stress, it looks like, but they hold hands as they walk out and sing Walking after midnight. Judges don’t think they’re ready – and hello, I’ve been saying that since week one.
Gabe is up next and sings “Somebody Like You” and still just kind of stands there despite his dance lessons, he’s still the Judges sweetheart though.

Shawn Mayer is next, and we are treated to a segment where she and John Rich have it out and she ditches him as mentor and goes to Jeffrey. She sings The First Cut is the Deepest. She’s given props for sticking up for herself, but they think it was just ok overall.
Coffey is safe?! He is, so Pearl Heart and Ashley Hewitt are up for elimination. Coffee sings Proud Mary, and is ok, but not quite country, if a lot showy. The judges think he might be hiding his lack of voice behind the show, but Jewel is protective over him.
Ashley performs first, a barefooted Take the Money and Run and it’s alright, if not a home run. I think she did well, considering she’d never heard of the song. Heh.
Pearl Heart sings Ain’t Going Down ‘Til The Sun Comes Up and… well, it’s surprisingly good. That was the perfect song choice.
Unfortunately it’s too little too late, and Pearl Heart is going home. The audience boos, and the girls cry, but the judges are proud of them. Jewel said outright that it kills her that they’re leaving and Sophie and Laura remain. Nice.
Next week, two more are eliminated!
