The Biggest Loser Premiere!
While I was enjoying the Big Brother Finale and aftermath, another guilty pleasure premiered – and I didn’t even have my pizza to eat while watching it! Harumph! (what? π )
We have 16 competitors this Season, and by now I’m sure you know who went home – since it’s on the banner. Here’s how it all went down…
The 16 players faced surprises right off the bat though, as they thought they were headed to the Ranch to meet Bob and Jillian, but are dropped off at the beach with Ali instead – BTW – Ali looks FANTASTIC after having her baby – and facing their first challenge. They were at the sight of the Marathon that last years contestants ran at the end of the season, and were told that they were to race the last mile. The winner would get immunity for themselves, and their teammate, who they would get to choose.
Shay says her mind freaked out – she can’t run a mile.
Tracey finds out it’s immunity at stake and says Game on – she’ll do whatever it takes.
Sean is freaking out – but he wants to stay as long as poosible, so he’s getting immunity.
Ali gets ready to start them off – and here comes a car with Dan from last season – who was the biggest contestant they’d ever had, as of last year. This is his second chance. He’s lost 142 pounds since starting last season, and they want to help him finish what he started.
Amanda is nervous, but is going to make us proud, since America voted her on the show at the finale.
They start off and Tracey sprinted up the hill, and wants to show she isn’t gonna stop. Dan’s been working out for 4 hours a day and is getting beat by Tracy – he can’t believe it. Tracy walks at the top of the hill, and Daniel passes her, giving her encouragement as he goes. Shay is last, and sees everyone before her. Daniel pulls it out and finishes the mile first, cheers everyone on. Tracy falls just 100 yards short of the finish line – says her legs are jelly. Tracy refuses help as they pass her. Mo crosses and says everything flipped – he was encouraged to get checked out at the hospital.
Tracy’s still crawling, she doesn’t want help, says she’ll do it. Everyone watches, and everyone goes to help her, and there was just nothing left in her legs, but she had a lot of heart instead – so they all help her across the finish line. She collapses again, they gt her up – and she’s not responding, can’t keep her eyes open. Medic is there everyone’s worried. She doesn’t respond, so they get her to the table, then she’s medivac’d out.
Everyone calls it a serious wakeup call as it was just 1 mile. They do get word at the ranch that both Tracy and Mo are doing well, but will stay for observation. Ali tells them they’re all strangers, they’ll spend an hour getting to know each other before they choose teams.
Alan is a fire fighter – he felt like he couldn’t help tracy after the mile, and for a firefighter that was awful feeling.
Rudy played college football – never stopped eating after he stopped working out
Rebecca is tired of being told she has a pretty face.
Shay’s mom had a heroin addiction, and was taking from her and spent the rest of her time in foster care. She doesn’t give up – but she’s never tried to work on herself.
Julio made a promise to his girls – he’s gonna keep it.
Abby lost her husband, daughter and son in a car accident. She lost everything, and has to believe she’s here for something bigger.
That’s all we get – and it’s time to pick teammates. Daniel is first, and gets to keep his orange shirt. He picks Shay. He says its because she’s the biggest, and he wants to show her that she can get through it, like he did.
Green – Alan chooses Abby
Pink – Amanda chose Rebecca
Blue – Rudy chooses Dina – they’d tackled the mile side by side
Red – Antoine chooses Sean
Brown – Liz picks Danny
Black – Alexandria chooses Leo
Tracy and Mo are on the same team – Purple.
Today isn’t over yet… time to start the first weigh-in. They get to meet Bob and Jillian first.
Pink: Amanda – 250, Rebecca -279 = 529
Green: Allen 325 – Abby 247 = 572
Black: Alexandra 309 – Julio 407 = 716
Blue: Rudy 442 – Dina 253 = 695
Brown: Liz 267 – Danny 430 = 697
Red: Antoine 367 – Sean 444 = 811
Orange: Daniel 312 – Shay 476 = 788
Jillian and Bob are both stunned to see how big they all are, and most certainly Shay. Shay says she can think of 476 excuses, or 476 reasons not to be that way anymore. Bob says Danny is the perfect teammate for her right now.
Cut to the gym for the first workout – they discover they’re gonna work with both Bob and Jillian. They predict blood on the walls. They know that it’s the biggest group ever – it’s time to take their tragedies and work them into strengths. And it’s brutal, as we have come to expect. Dina tells us Bob looks nice on TV, but is hard. Jillian though, is just like you see on TV. Right about then, the f-bombs start to fly from Jillian – and the greatest line ever…
Jillian: Haven’t you seen the fucking show?! I’m bored with the stories!
Shay says she can’t do it – Bob says she can’t quit, and he and Jillian tag team her. She doesn’t get to quit. Jillian says it’s a story in her mind – it’s a choice. Climb for 20 seconds. It’s a choice. Shay says she can’t and walks out. Dan tells her not too – and no one follows Shay. Jillian doesn’t want to give her any attention for quitting. Jillian wants to give her a day – bob agrees to 30 minutes. Shay realizes if she stops now, nothing will change – she gathers herself and goes back inside. The choice was excruciating, but won’t let a ladder stop her. Jillian gets in her face – tells her if she quits again no one will chase her. She doesn’t want her to be ashamed, but will not tolerate her working less than her potential and won’t play the victim game. Shay says she has it, and gets on the ladder. What just happened? She did it. Now do it again.
Mo comes back to the Ranch – he was dehydrated with low blood sugar and blood pressure. They give him the purple short, and his partner is tracy, who’s still in the hospital.
Mo: i hope she gets better – but I’m gonna work out till she does.
He’s determined to help keep her there, until she gets back from the hospital.
They then head to see Dr. H for all the tests and wakeup calls. This time they’re grabbing all sorts of extra stuff, to help study obesity in general, and helping advance the research in general. They measure metabolism, hormones, MRIs to see why they make their food decisions, etc.
Here we go – it’s the last chance work out… Bob’s making them scream, Jillian calls Allen her bitch, it’s all we’ve seen before and more. Mo’s determined not to have the purple team go home first – Julio falls over, and Jillian says it’s all drama, and she slams it home every time – all she sees is dead father. He kisses her on the forehead as he walks past, and she giggles.
Bob says this group has a lot of baggage, fragmented lives. Jillian goes after Alex – and says she’s acting pathetic, no focus. Alex yells back, and starts to focus as Jillian yells along – and ends with Good fucking job. (and families around the states are covering their widdle innocent ears and complaining all over the nets… Hahaha!)
Time for the weighin and elimination – after the Britta product placement segment with Jillian Bob and Ali. Heh. Back at the scale – Ali looks STUNNING in her blue dress… damn.
They find out only one will be leaving – and purple team’s fate is all on Mo.
Daniel and shay have Immunity, and are up first:
Orange: Daniel 300 -12, Shay 459 -17 = -29 3.68%
Pink: Amanda 244 -6, Rebecca 261 -18 = -24 4.54 %
Blue: Rudy 414 -28, Dina 245 -8 = -36 5.18%
Red: Antoine 349 -18, Sean 422 -22 = -40 4.93%
Brown: Liz 257 -10, Danny 406 -24 = -34 4.88%
Green: Allen 306 -19, Abby 232 -15 = -34 5.94%
Abby brings Jillian to tears – she says death would be easy, this is hard, but it feels good. Jillian says she had always said if she went through something like Abby, she’d kill herself, and now working with Abby, she will have to be stronger, she’d be stronger.
Two teams left:
Black: Alexandria 296 -13, Julio 394 -13 = -26 3.63%
Alex says that Julio should have stepped it up, put more effort, he’s bigger, she’s pissed. They fall below the Pink team. They realize it could be their last chance and will give it their all.
Purple: he has to lose more than 12 pounds to make sure he stays and Tracy gets a chance to come to the Ranch…
Coach Mo: 336 = -19 5.35%
The black team is up for elimination. They have one hour to talk about it, then it’s elimination time. Julio says he’s shocked and pissed, to come in so far below – it’s disheartening. He says that he feels blessed to have Alexandria as a partner, and she’s deserving, but so is he. He begs them to allow him to stay and to continue to bet the man he needs to be for his family. Alex says that if she goes back it’ll be a struggle and she worked her ass off this week, and wants another chance to push and fight. Her biggest fear was to go home the first week – and here they are.
They talk it over as a group, and Allen reminds them they’re all more than a number. To look at them like that.
Elimination time:
Purple: Alexandria
Pink: Julio
Red: Julio
Orange: Julio
Brown: Alexandria
Blue: Alexandria
Green: Alexandria
Alexandria says goodbye with class and grace, hugs Julio, and heads out, hugs and tears from all – and we get to see her now, a few months later. She’s down 60 pounds, and is halfway to her goal weight. We see Mama, who’s working out with her, and she’s very proud. She tells us on the ranch she had a crush on someone, but wasn’t confident enough to do anything about it. She says we have to wait and see – but…
We find out via TV Guide, that it’s ANTOINE! And not only that, but they’ve recently started dating and according to Alexandria “things are going great!”
Next week – it’s the dreaded week 2 curse… will Season 8 finally break it?

If I had been voting I would have sent Julio home. Later on he may be a bigger threat especially in competitions with his strength. But they voted on who they thought could be more successful at home. Its’ time to think strategy though
Caught the rest of the episode I missed because of BB (GO JORDO!). Seems like it’ll be interesting π
I LOVE this show. And I didn’t even know I missed the first episode! Sheesh. Thanks, SuperLessa! BTW (Hi Tina Brown!) what’s Amanda’s weigh in supposed to say? Anyone know when the show is on again? Or if they’re gonna repeat the first show?
You should be able to catch the full show on NBC.com for a few more days, Sasssy!
and 244 – *goes to add the other 4*
Thanks, SuperLessa!
They also reshow the show on FLN if you get that network.
I don’t, but thank you for that, Billy. Sadly, the Biggest Loser website says, “Full episode not available yet.”
Hulu might have it also.
