Survivor Recap: Ep. 6
Jeff Probst and CBS promised us a drama filled episode and they delivered. It was scary to see Russell S. collapse, and heartbreaking when he then broke down farther when he realized he’d be pulled from the game.
Before that though, we got a real glimpse of how awful the weather had been for both tribes – the non stop rain was taking it’s toll on everyone. Everyone except Russell H, Evil Russell, who declared it easy and enjoyable, that it proved him better than the rest of them because he continued to work in the rain.
Challenge time came, and they were told it was for Reward – Pizza. No one looked thrilled, which was odd to me, because I’d have been all over that like white on rice. Of course, what little excitement they did have was promptly damped (hahahah) when they were told the winning team would eat the pizza at tribal council, where both teams would vote off a player.
The challenge: A Tribe Member was strapped into a giant ball, where they’d have to lead their tribe by voice alone to complete the challenge – first rolling them in the ball through the trail, than direct four members in sending a ball through a wooden maze. Both tribes were neck and neck, but when Russell S. got to the maze, he collapsed with his head on the maze table, out cold. He comes too a bit, only to fall again, which is when Jeff noticed and called a stop to the challenge, calling Medical in. Russell’s heartrate and blood pressure dropped scary fast, and Mr. Dimples made an executive decision – calling off the challenge for the first time in Survivor History. He sent both Tribes back to their camps, and let them know he’d tell them Russell’s fate at Tribal Council – if he could return, he’d return there.
There was some scramble at Galu, where an amusing attempt at subterfuge went completely over Shambo’s head, as the boys promise her she’s safe and that they’ll vote Monica off at Tribal Council.
When they arrive at Tribal Council, Jeff lets them know that medical had indeed pulled Russell from the game, but that he was in stable condition at the hospital and doing much better. He gave the chief necklace to the Galu tribe – and told them to elect a new leader when they got back to the camp. There was to be no voting that night at all, as the challenge was never completed.
So Russell is the second medical evac this season – 13 are left – who will be voted out next week?
