Press Day at the BB House!
It’s CBS2, take two!
Eight media personalities, including the ever so fabulous Gretchen Massey, the host of House Calls, spent the day in the Big Brother House, competing in HOH, POV and ultimately a ‘shocking’ eviction. CBS2’s Jenn McBride ended up on slop, and though she normally will eat anything – including her dog’s cake – she described it as the one thing she’ll never, ever eat again. Her 12 hours of games, backstabbing and unappitizing menus were difficult, and she came away with a whole new respect for the game, the houseguests, and of course – her dog’s menu.
Although I work just yards from the house on the CBS lot in Studio City, they were kind enough to take us over to the set on golf carts. During that short ride, I met two other contestants, Brian Gianelli, a producer for of Yahoo! TV, and Kyle Buchanan of The Advocate. All slightly nervous and unsure of what was to come, we immediately established the “golf cart alliance” or GCA. Little did we know, 11 hours later, one of us would betray another, who was ultimately evicted.
We met up with the other five contestants, were gratefully assured the bathroom cameras would be turned off during press day, and all entered the house. As great as it looks on camera, the set is very much like a bunker and is not as comfortable or inviting in person. An abundance of double-sided mirrors, a dark screen shutting out light from the backyard during lockdowns, and the noise of cameras shifting to capture your every move all make for a surprisingly cold environment.

Angie:
29 years old, from Orlando Florida. Single, Pharmaceutical Sales Representative
She’s our Korean-American tomboy who’s recently divorced. She has a good relationship with her parents, and is devoted to her mentally disabled brother. Self-described as wild, entertaining and funny, she loves socializing, working out, boating and traveling – having fun, in a nutshell. Was the women’s champion of Guiness Chugging at Irish Kevin’s bar in Key West. Has a miniature Dachshund named Dixie. She likes alpha males, confident and muscular, loves tatoos and has a few – wants to be with a guy’s guy, yet is a romantic at heart.
April:
30 years old, Higley, AZ – Single, Financial Manager
Has a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Fitness Management – we have our abs class! works as a financial manager at a car dealership and admits to being OCD – unable to sleep if the bottles in the fridge aren’t lined up properly. ha. Good relationship with her parents, and has an identical twin sister – don’t worry, though, Sis is pregnant, so no switcheroos – though they do have the same Tramp Stamp. Has a cat, loves carps, and guys who are adventurous. Her favorite movies are an eclectic “Dumb & Dumber” “Remember the Titans” and “Crash”.
Brian:
27, San Francisco, CA – Single, Telecommunication Account Manager.
The Air Force Boy – served for 6 years as an F-16 crew chief and honorably discharged. Has worked as an investment banker, military recruiter and snowboarder – is in telecommunications and several entrepreneurial ventures. He’s a guy’s guy and raised around feisty Italian women, and loves his mama, the Beatles, Italian Food and has his own relationship with religion. He wants to be Vice President, and to find a family oriented traveling beautiful girl.
Dan:
24, Dearborn, MI – he’s a Single Catholic School Teacher in an all boys Catholic school.
He’s our conservative, and not a fan of liberals and is certain America was not ready for a female president – he’d have moved out of the country if Hiliary Clinton had run and won. Thinks vegans are weird and that religion is important. Wants a caring, hot, exotic looking mate, loves sushi, turkey and Cheez-Its, alternative and rap. Loves The Godfather, black, running, coaching football and friends. And naturally, tattoos are trashy and piercings are for freaks. He’s gonna get along WELL in the house, hm?
Jerry:
75 (!!!!), Magnolia TX, Great Grandfather/Retired Marketing Executive.
Jerry is a diehard fan and hasn’t missed a single episode – has watched BBAD and the Feeds – and CornerOfficeX is certain everyone will love him! He dropped out of school as a sophemore, but went back and graduated college at the age of 48. He was also in the USMC, and has been married for 54 (!!!!) years. He stays physically fit so that he can take care of her – she has Parkinson’s. 2 kids, 5 grandkids and 4 great grandkids – says the secret to marriage is to allow your partner their own space. Self-described as competitive, likes golf, pool, sports. He volunteers at an animal rescue, and describes his perfect day as one in touch with his family. His heroes are those that serve in the military, he likes to touch, be fair and is considerate.
Jessie:
22, from Huntington Beach, CA – Single, professional body builder.
He’s the Boy Next Door and a CornerOfficeX said he was likely an early target – looking at the guns, we now know why! The strong one’s always go first. He wants to be an inspiration to people losing weight, getting fit and being drug-free body builders. He’s worked as a train conductor and has a close relationship with his mother. Digs on Kanye West, baseball, football, tennis, working out, Vegas, friends and family. Wants a curvy, opinionated girl with dark hair, and is selfdescribed as personable, confrontational and flirty. Says his father is his hero.
Keesha:
29, Burbank CA, Single Hooters Girl who reminds us of Daniele
The ‘blond bombshell’ she loves Hooters and considers it an important part of her life and has been on their calendars and wants to become management. She’s our PETA member, doesn’t eat red meat and loves Pizza. Her parents are her heroes and she loves baseball and shopping. She’s most proud of leaving home and going to CA and surviving – she dated her friend’s ex-boyfriend right after they broke up and is ashamed of it. Lives by “only live once, so have some fun!”
Libra:
31, Spring TX, Married, Human Resources Representative.
She’s a staunch Obama supporter in the middle of Bush Country with a strong personality. Married for 7 years, three kids, a 4 year old girl and 4 month old twins – one black, one white. (TOLD YOU!!) Her husband is comfortable being the stay at home dad while she is in the BB house. She’s a good relationship with her mom, loves politics and thinks they’re important. Played volleyball in college, loves to shop, run, and family. Self-described as intuitive, spunky, and Oprah Winfrey is her hero. She was attracted to Nick of BB8. (…gag.) Wants to be a singer, but is sure it won’t happen.
Memphis:
25, Los Angeles, CA and a single Mixologist (which would explain the ‘not just a bartender’ line!)
Charismatic, and once sold fake Nike Sport Shoes on the street. Has an Associate degree in Event Management, been with his girlfriend for 3 years. His father died when he was a teen, he considers his mother his Hero and gets along with his step dad. Loves seafood, “Entourage” and Johnny Cash. Has a Doberman Pincher named Diesel.
Michelle:
28, Cumberland, RI and a single Realtor
The East Coast Firecracker from a large Portuguese family, she speaks her mind and was the only person to jump up and object at her brother’s wedding. Animal lover with lots of pets, she calls her mom her best friend, smokes the occasional cigar. Loves hiphop, rap and techno music, sports, dancing, boxing, going to the beach. Wants a guy to sweep her off her feet, and is proud of her teenage running medals and occomplishments – ran a marathon in Australia at 15.
Ollie:
27, Minneapolis, MN, Single Marketing Sales Representative
He’s “the son of a preacher man” who grew up in a strict Pentecostal family – faith healing and speaking in tongues are the norm. Daddy is his hero and he considers his family the Black Brady Bunch. He doesn’t drink, smoke, curse, and stays true to his values. He received a full athletic scholarship for football, works out and listens to hiphop, R&B and gospel. Wants a classy sassy mate and wants to earn enough money to be financially secure via smart investment, invention, or lottery. He isn’t into politics and has an BA degree in sociology/communication.
Renny:
53, New Orleans, LA, a married Beauty Salon Owner
Self-described as vivacious, witty, passionate, dynamic, entertaining, the life of the party. She says she has outfits and wigs for any occasion, and was a NFL Saints dancer in ’77. Loves all music, and has impersonations of Elvis, Garland and Monroe. Married for 27 years, two grown children, with a great relationship with her mom who’s the receptionist at her Salon. Daddy was a WW2 veteran.
And last but not least…
Steven: Our gay cowboy.
35, Dallas TX, Single Rodeo Competitor
Geographic Consultant by day, cowboy by night, he’s a champion bull rider in the gay rodeo circuit. He has a Bachelor’s degree in General Agriculture/Marketing. Self-described as spontaneous, outgoing and outrageous, and looking for a strong, masculine smart and financially secure man. Has a dog, loves heroes, Project Runway and Nip/Tuck. He thinks he’s good at reading people and manipulating them into doing what he wants, says he’s unique and random and everyone loves him.
