Celebrity Apprentice, wk 3

CelebApprenticeSo, who’s going to get fired tonight, hm? Everyone – or at least my mama – wants to know! I’m sure other folks are watching too – so here we go.

Way to foreshadow, Omorosa! She’s positive that all they need is one win and Hydra will tumble like a house of cards, it’s coming, they’re going down. Anyone else feeling another loss headed her way? (And why wasn’t she fired? Seriously? Dang it. I dislike that woman so.) Anyway, we meet with Trump by the East River for their next task, where the Ferret Headed Trump asks Soprano’s star how many bodies are in there. Haha. So original. Bet he’s never heard that before. Gene Simmons gets his check for his charity from the last win, Pediatric Aids. Trump gives Gene the option to project manager for Empresario and he, of course, takes it. He says he’s the King of All Women.

The task is for Kodak, where they create a mobile printing experience that they might be able to take world wide. They’ll be taking the bus on the road to try it out, and winner takes all, of course.

Gene says it’s a benevolant dictatorship and pisses off Omorosa. yay! Gene doesn’t meet with the execs again, deciding to be Outside the Box. He starts talking to himself, and says it’s all over in 10 minutes because he’s got it. “It’s a Kodak World. Welcome.”

Hydra is smart and meets with the execs and gets a clear picture of what they are selling and what they want. Empresario sent two women to meet with the execs, and Nelly wouldn’t shut up, and they lost the point. She goes back and says the buzz words are affordable, and bringing printing home. (It’s not – as Hydra knows, it’s about the Ink.) and Gene Simmons goes all arrogant and says Kodak doesn’t know what they want, he does. So he pushes his idea, and accepts no input from anyone.

Project Runway: En Garde!

Posted by Lessa on January 17, 2008 in Bravo, Project Runway |

Project Runway

Oh how I adore Project Runway! It never fails to deliver the drama! This week, the designers were greeted by Heidi and a group of oh so fabulous models with wild ass hair. They were told they’re to make an avent garde look that is based on their model’s hair – it doesn’t have to be practical, or even generally wearable. They choose models and two girls who’s names I can’t be arsed enough to remember are auf’d by Heidi and it’s off to the workroom for details. $300 dollars per team, and two days.

They have to work in teams – and are divided up by random drawing of the buttons: Chris and Christian, Victoria and Jillian, Rami and Sweet Cans P, and Ricki and Kit. Some look excited by this, others – not so much. So they choose their model, designs and run off to Parsons for fabric, then back to work once again. Most of the teams are working well together – Chris and Christian seem to be a match made in heaven, Victoria and Jillian are cautiously polite and are working well. Ricki and Kit are doing alright – but Rami and Sweet Cans P… oh dear. Rami is a micromanager and won’t give her any space, and at one point Sweet Cans P is actually worried that they might come to blows.

Day two – Surprise! Why are they surprised by this? They were too comfortable, so of COURSE there’s going to be a wrench thrown in! the surprise makes ALL of the Designers panic – there’s going to be a second look! They now have to add a ‘day’ look to their avant garde look as a companion piece. $50 extra, but no extra time. oh dear! One team member runs off to Mood for fabric and NOW it’s a PR workroom – total panic and pandemonium! Yay! Jillian and Victoria are WAY behind by this little twist, and Jillian is worried because Victoria has immunity.

Chris is feeling good – he wants peoples jaws to drop to the floor and for them to never forget their look. He and Christian are confident, even after talking to Tim who’s not too sure. Tim says that Victoria and Jillian’s look is fantastic – Rami is still micromanaging and reduces Sweet Cans P to tears which makes me want to smack him. He refuses to allow her any imput whatsoever. Tim picks up on it and isn’t convinced their pieces are going to work – it’s the same draping Rami’s done before. He’s also unconvinced by Ricki and Kit’s looks.

Runway time! I hate to admit it, but I love the coat Victoria and Jillian made. So does my daughter, who’s eyes light up and she gets all girly and begging “PLEASE MAMA” while I tell her to get a job and buy her own. Because I’m a nice mom, and all. Anyway, comes as no surprise due to lovely Bravo foreshadowing, that Chris and Christian, and Jillian and Victoria are the top scorers. The judges are impressed, and feeling their designs hardcore, though I want to smack Victoria for her smug little ‘we have three looks, so we should win!’ to the judges. (rolls eyes) They then deliver the harsh blows to Ricki and Kit – they’re look wasn’t avantgarde at all, and looked cheap, and Rami and Sweet Cans P – he’s draped before, is there anything else? But Sweet P’s dress is well made. Rami throws Sweet Cans P under the bus, and the Judges are not impressed by that at all.

In the end, however, Chris and Christian come out on top – with Christian winning immunity as team leader. As a special prize, their looks are featured in a Tre Semme ad in Elle Magazine! And because it was her design, and the overall effect was poorly executed, we say goodbye to Kit who doesn’t believe in regret so leaves without any.

Next week? More Drama, of course!

Hahah. So that was quick…

DaughtryChris Daughtry posted on his blog about the article in the Rolling Stone, and how he’s just being honest!

The funny thing is, if you heard the whole conversation you would’ve heard all the good things I said about the show as well. Like for instance: How it’s an amazing platform to launch a career…..”If you take it seriously!!!!”

Chris goes on to say that the comments that were printed stemmed from the interviewer who asked about the AI Stigma – people tend to ignore the winners because they were on American Idol and consider them not to be ‘real artists’ because of their rise to fame.

So, I answered that I don’t feel that enough “artists” try out for the show because of how many people they focus on that are obviously there for comedic and entertainment value. And when you focus enough on people that aren’t serious about it then it’s hard for the audience to take you as an artist serious. And it’s also hard as a potential contestant to think it’s a good way to get seen because you’re afraid of being made a joke of. I also said I think it’s AWESOME that they are letting the contestants play their own instruments and that I feel that will show something in the contestants that people (the audience) never get to see….but that wasn’t printed. My long winded point is this….I was never trying to “DISS” the show or “BITE THE HAND THAT FED ME” so to speak. I was simply giving my input on what I think would spice the show up a bit.
Sorry for being honest. God bless!-Chris

It’s all good, Chris! I agree with him, and not just because he’s one of the hottest guys to ever grace the AI stage. It’s because he’s right. We the people, can be a fickle, fickle bunch.

So, are you watching?

American IdolI have to admit that American Idol lost it’s appeal for me several seasons ago – and it looks like I’m not the only one! It doesn’t help that it comes on the same time as other shows that I love ever so much more then Idol. Like The Biggest Loser.

Anyway, like I said, it seems like I’m not the only one who’s grown tired of the same ole same ole. On Tuesday night, Idol premiered with it’s lowest numbers to date, even though it still took it’s timeslot. Maybe people have just gotten lives, or something. Or maybe, just maybe, they still spend too much time on all of the William Hungs, and leave us hanging, wanting more of the Jordan Sparks.

Or we’re just bored of the whole concept. After all – none of the American Idol Winners have really done ANYTHING fantastic. They put out an album, it gets mediocre reviews and sales, and then they start to drop like flies, ala Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee who were all recently dropped from their labels due to low sales. Often the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners do better, but even then they tend to fall by the wayside soon enough. For singers chosen by America’s Popular Vote, it would seem that we don’t know what we want, and we the people just don’t like to face that kinda pressure.

Chris DaughtryThere are exceptions to the rule, of course, and a couple of stars have done remarkably well – namely Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry, and now Daughtry has come out to talk against the show that gave him his start. As he recently told Rolling Stone, American Idol is starting to lose it’s luster.

“It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer. I’m sure that’ll be used against me, but that’s the truth, you know?”
[…]
Daughtry blames the show’s woes partially on its emphasis on untalented singers. “People get tired of seeing people that suck,” he says. “It’s funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can’t sing, and that’s what they’re banking it on. [They should] find some people that you can really invest in.”

Though the show is slated to make some minor adjustments this year – allowing contestants to play instruments in early rounds, and de-emphasizing the celebrity judges to give more indepth contestant views – I’m not sure at all it’ll be enough to save the franchise. What do you think? Are you watching? Do tell!
