Just a quicky today – seems my hot water pipes are frozen. Which means I gotta get em unfroze, before they burst. Oh, the joys of alaskan living. Anna’s gonna hold down the fort until I have hot water…

Happy(thatitsover)Black Friday!

Peoples of the internets – I give you…

Light parades:
(taken by shivering hands of moving lights. They’re shaky. Sue me!)

fireworks:
(2.39mb, be patient. And also? Non-judgemental. We’re a small town! This is a big deal! We don’t get fireworks for 4th of July due to excessive sunlight. heh.)

And the crazy Alaskan’s that bundle up in the cold (erm – it’s -5F out there people!) to watch them:

Hope ya’ll enjoyed your Black Friday. Me? I’m not shopping till… later. Much, Much later.

Christmas Comes to Kenai

Posted by Lessa on November 24, 2006 in NaBloPoMo 2006, this-n-that with Comments closed |

It’s that time again! The biggest little celebration here in Kenai.

Christmas Comes to Kenai starts off at 8am with The boy telling the pup “huh? nah, you missed it!” and sending her running into my room crying and my threatening the boy’s life for the first time. Today. *Snerk*

Needless to say – the pup had NOT missed it, and there was no reason for tears, and… then Auntie calls. Lessa doesn’t do anything before NOON people, without much grumbling. including answer the phone. But I gave her the info she wanted: Santa was arriving at 11:30am. NOT EIGHT AM. NOT NINE AM. but 11:30 so hang up the bloody phone, leave your sister alone, and LET ME SLEEP!

harumph.

So. full!

Trip-to-pan overload… heh.

Dinner was a smashing success. The turkey was perfect, the girl is beyond proud of herself (and we of her!) Papa gave The Boy his first carving lesson and let him cut into the Turkey with dad’s carving knives, we all ate way too much, we’ve a ton of left overs, AND we watched Ice Age 2: the Melt Down.

Whew. Am I exhausted! Hope everything was fantastic for you and yours. Tomorrow – Christmas Comes to Kenai Celebration!

Happy Turkey Day, ya’ll!

Posted by Lessa on November 23, 2006 in NaBloPoMo 2006, this-n-that |

Sleep? What is this thing you call sleep? The dripping of the water to thaw the turkey that was still frozen kept me up, even after I gave up the cleaning for the night.. heh.

turkey pan But – it’s 10:30am and the bird just went in the oven. I followed the directions on the package, and used the basting stuff that Auntie sent over. Everyone cross your fingers!
