Fighting invisibility..

Posted by Lessa on June 1, 2006 in this-n-that |

So – I’m feeling kinda… invisible… lately. It happens at times, no big deal really. But! Since I haven’t been doing much picture wise, other then brookston (and must figure what I’m doing for that today too! harumph) I saw this over at KristyK’s and thought, hmmm.. why not! If anything, it’ll get ya’ll commenting and me posting. *L* So! Here it is!

Bonita in Pink has started a picture meme. This one is interactive, folks! That means you have to participate for it to be any fun. Here are the rules [cut and pasted from her site, and cut n pasted from KristyK ]:

Go ahead and ask. Ask me to take a picture of anything through my eyes. However, [yes, there is a BUT], I have a right to decide not to take the picture if it’s something I feel really uncomfortable with. Got it? For the most part, I’m not. You know this. So, ask away! Don’t be a pooper scooper! Even if you are a lurker, just ask! This should be fun because I love taking pictures. Even if I ain’t an expert. I try my best. lol

Leave your requests in the comments and I’ll get to it when I get to it, hopefully sooner rather than later!

So there ya go – comment away and tell me what you want me to take pictures of, while I decide if I really like this theme or not. Harumph.

(Still taking requests!)

buhRRRRRRRRRRR!

Oh man. Someone turn the heat back on! I know I complained about it being hot, but i’m SORRY! I TAKE IT BACK! just make it WARM AGAIN! buh-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! It’s beginning to feel like… well.. little league season. heh.

WHICH – speaking of – The Angels have been doing awesome things again! In fact, one of the Sister City’s teams was so scared after hearing about what they did to homer last week they didn’t even show and lost monday due to forfiet. *snicker*

Then – tonight, in three VERY LONG INNINGS, they destroyed yet another Sister city team, 28-12! Then they tried to tell me that a ruling was wrong, that I knew was right, and we called the came according to the 10-run rule (if the team coming up to bat is ahead by 10 or more at the top of the 4th, game over.). Likely, they’ll bitch later, but I double checked with the league pres, and I was correct in my understanding of the ruling so screw’em. Sides, what were they bitching for – we weren’t beating them 21902381209 to 12? Blarg.

The girl only got to play one inning, but was up twice in said inning. hee. Then her one play in the field, she was 2nd base, and snagged a GLORIOUS catch of a grounder and whipped it around to 1st base for the out. She was all “it was my only play though.” and I was all So? if you’re only gonna have ONE play, best make it FABULOUS! which she did, and yay Angels!

The pup is doing well too – got herself another hit last night, she’s in Coach pitch. D-man got his first hit tonight in miners – getting all the way to 2nd base, and then on to 3rd before the end of the inning. AND the boy, who’s not playing? Will be umping his first game on Friday, as ump in training. He’s very excited (and amusingly, it will be D-man’s team playing that night. *g* A family affair all the way around!)

So yup – glad I turned my furnace back on. I’m COLD!

I. I have seen the future! And it is FRIGHTENING! I tell you now! I am STILL SHAKING!

…with laughter! but STILL!

See, Auntie Ladybug was parked in my spot in the driveway so I parked behind the bug. After she left, i said to TheBoy (in a fit of PURE INSANITY i swear) “Well, go head, pull the car into it’s rightful spot.” He was all SERIOUSLY? and I was all “aw fuck did I just say that out LOUD? guess so. alright.”

So we get into the car, me in the passenger seat, which is something I don’t like anyway (why yes, I am a control freak, why do you ask?) and him in the driver’s seat (did you hear my heart break right there? did ya? huh?). He was a little nervous – which made me laugh, and I reminded him he’s been starting the car for me for like 3 years now, so just start the damn thing already.

So. We got it started, and I tell him to put his foot on the break, and put it into reverse so he could back up. He did, and then with his LEFT FOOT ON THE BREAK he HIT THE GAS WITH THE RIGHT FOOT and spinspinspinspinspinspun the wheels and I yelled “STOP!” and he slammed the break again, and I reswallowed my heart. “Just one foot, son. Just one.”

He heh’d me (he HEH’d me!) and said ok, and we tried again. And ZOOMED in reverse until I went “STOP!” again. “Son. be gentle with the acelerator – it only takes a little. We’re only going down the driveway.” and he said ok, and we put it into drive, and I promptly lost all feeling in my extremities, and he pulled us into the driveway…

…leaving me .025 inches between the jeep and the bug, and my heart once again lurking somewhere around my tonsils as I grabbed the wheel, and strangled out a “….good…good…um. Almost hit your bug though, let’s back up and straighten it up a bit and try once more.”

So, back again – slower this time thank goodness, and then I helped him steer us in correctly so as not to relinquish total control hit the bug again and leave me room to exit the vehicle.

Which I did, and he did, and i manged to hold back my desire to bend down and kiss the earth shouting “LAND! GLORIOUS LAND!” because, you know, that would have been overkill. a little. sorta. yeah.

Instead, I was a good mommy, and said only “Congrats, you’ve just had your first driving lesson.” then, as soon as he was outa hearing, I called Papa – who taught all us how to drive, and went all hysterical “YOU HAVE TO TEACH HIM TO DRIVE! OMG I CAN’T EVEN FATHOM DOING THIS!” while he laughed heartily and tossed in a few ‘you deserve this’ peppered with many ‘MUHAHAHAHA’s’ thrown in for good measure.

OMFG. This mothering teenagers thing? So not cool. not cool at all.

(Stop laughing Nana Moosie! I can hear you from HERE!)

Mark S
You filled my teenage years with laughter and that goofy love of life. We connected, despite the years between us. I wonder where you are now  – and if you found happiness to last, at last.
