The upgrade? was going flawlessly. I? Got a cocky, perhaps, because right in the middle of the upgrade, everything screeched to a standstill. Ah – cable glitch, I thought, as my brave light flickered on and off and on and off and…. hey – it isn’t coming back on again! GRR!

So! I rushed over to the tree, which, of course, was in front of my connector thingamabobby, and checked the connections. Everything seemed good, so back to the modem. Flash flash flicker. Flash flash flicker.

Not good. Flash flash flicker SOLID is what I needed that stupid little light to do….

So, I called the auto tech line, find out their having periodic outages in Anchorage. Normally that doesn’t concern me down here, but well, who knows, right? It was too late to call mom and see if her’s was working two doors down, so I gave up and went to bed, certain that it would be all fixed in the morning and I could finish my upgrade so you loyal three wouldn’t miss me.

Heh.

Wake up – and the Modem that Could…..couldn’t. Flash, flash, flicker. So! I call my “boyfriend” (Kevin’s best friend – we’ve enjoyed the rumors for years. heh.) and drug his lazy nekid behind outa bed to come check things out for me. He didn’t find anything wrong with the connections, the splitter or the cable. However, even connecting the modem direct from the floor feed: flash flash flicker. No solid connection. *SOB*

So, here I was, New Years Eve, ready to while away my time on the Internets and waste the evening away working here and there and fixing this install/upgrade, and not a bloody connection in sight. Because NATURALLY my computer? Doesn’t have an old style dial up Modem on it either! Hurrray for upgrades! *Mutter*

I ran down here to mom’s, got the instal fixed so everything was cool here at eclat, and then for the past 24 hours I’ve had nothing to do. *L* Cept clean my house, and well. who wants to do that? Bah.

WHO TOLD THE CABLE COMPANY TECHS THEY COULD HAVE THE HOLIDAY OFF?

MUTTER.

So, I’m out for the count until tuesday at the earliest where hopefully I can get a tech over here to fix/replace my modem and make sure everything is up and running again so that I can return to wasting my time here, like a good designer [time waster] should. I hope everyone had a fantastic NYE – mine was spent cuddled up with the kids and spraying sparkling apple cider everywhere. *L* Then I promptly got bored and went to bed. at 1am. It’s disgusting, I tell ya, disgusting.

Don’t have too much fun without me, kay? *sob*

In other news…

My… baby… boy. *sob*

It’s been a good day for him, really. He’s always been certain he’s invisible to girls, mostly because his babyhood love of his life is constantly shooting him down, but yeah, anyway. Heh. He’s always been a little down about it, the older he gets. I keep encouraging him, while at the same time wanting these girls to STAY AWAY FROM MY BAYBEE DAMMIT!

Ahem.

So, the Girl’s Awana’s teachers got together and paid for the girl to go to an overnight camp tonight out at the local Bible Camp. She’s very excited – they’ve a giant tubing hill that claimed at least one pair of my glasses as victim while I was growing up. heh. I drove her out, and signed the papers and such, and then as she was waiting to be taken to her cabin, the work crew gal says “Hey! you go to KMS, right?” and the girl says “Yeah.” and this Very Cute Girl says “[Theboy] is your brother, right?” and The girl again, confirms it. And then…

This little trollop Very Cute Girl And her Very Cute Friend say in unison “Saaaaweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!”

SWEET!

THEY KNOW MY BAYBEE EXISTS!

On the one hand, I’m very happy for him. On the other? I want to lock him in his room forever. *L* Me being the good mom though, I whipped out the cell phone and called him right away (He was babysitting the pup) and after I assured him that no, I wasn’t standing right in front of them! but had waited until I got to the car to call, he was all grinning so wide I heard it in the phone.

Awesome.

Then the wench at Subway just called him “Sweetheart”.

I’m so not ready for this. *Sob*

(ps – going to attempt to upgrade wordpress this evening to the new release. Um. if I break it – I’ll be back, eventually. Don’t you three loyal readers despair too much. *g*)

Photo Scavenger Hunt

Posted by Lessa on December 30, 2005 in family |

colorful gourdsSo, today is the final day of the Trial Version of the Online Photo Scavenger Hunt! It’s been a lot of fun to watch the kids go through each week, think about shots, getting to meet people who were very helpful in my kids (and me!) getting the shots we needed and/or wanted. The final standings aren’t in – the last posted were from a couple weeks ago, so we won’t know who the final winner is for a bit yet – current standings have me in 3rd, the girl tied for 5th, the pup tied for 7th and the boy in 8th over all. Not bad, if I do say so myself! It’s been a lot of fun, and I’m looking foward to participating in the next one, starting next week.

If you’d like to see all of our pictures, I’ve arranged the whole shebang into one set on flikr. This set has mine first, plus some of the kids taking their photos, then all of the ones the kids took for the hunt in the past 10 weeks too. Enjoy!
