EXCUSE ME??
W.T.F?!? When did he get all growed up and shit?
Harumph. Watching Batman Begins with the kids, and at the end we have the following conversation:
TheBoy: And of course, he gets the girl.
[watch for a few more minutes.]
Me: So much for getting the girl!
TheBoy: Mom, he still gets the girl – just in a different way. Which is just as good.
Me: *blink. blink. blink.*
WTF? when did he get all growed up and shit? Now, if only he remembers that when that little hand-writing tart breaks his heart….
Movies
I’ve been watching a great many movies lately – there have been some diamond in the roughs, there have been some that I couldn’t even make it through without falling asleep, there have been ones that made me think WAY too much, and others that made me think not at all. So – here’s some movies and my brief reviews!
The Jacket – Watch it! I hated the ending, but found it very cool all around.
Princess Diaries 1 and 2 – Everyone dreams of being a princess. even me.
Sin City – um. watch it and tell me what happened? I never made it all the way through without falling asleep. heh.
Crash – Wow. Just. Wow. Heavy, and certainly makes you think.
Monster in Law – eh – it was ok.
Fever Pitch – Loved it! The ending reminded me of a certian real life happy ending.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Watched it, LOVED IT, bought it.
Dogville – hrm. Interesting. I really enjoyed the “god’s eye view” of how it was filmed, however. It was different, and kinda neat.
The Interpreter – Watch it!
The Longest Yard – Loved it. *g*
The Final Cut – …..interesting concept. Not the best movie to watch right now. whoops.
Imortel – um. very. very. weird.
The Lost Angel – Dude. I’ve seen some gratuitous sex scenes before, but where the HELL did that one come from? Don’t bother.
Hitch – Loved it! Watched it 4 times. Bought it. “Don’t ever. do that again. Right here. Right here is where you live.”
Robots – LOVED IT! will likely buy it too. *g*
There’s been many more – but those are the ones I remember off the top of my head. heh. So there you go, thus concludes this episode of Lessa at the Movies.
Songs in black and white
Today was the Girl’s first band concert of her Middle School career. She’s in beginning band, and still loves it every bit as much as the first day she started to play. We saw several different bands tonight, from The Girl’s beginner class, on up through to the High School’s jazz and concert bands. A variety of talents and abilities, and a reminder that every one of those on the High School bands started right where my baby girl is.
She did really well – no squeeks! and at her stage, that’s the best thing of all. And most of all, she was proud of her performance, and that’s good enough for me.
I’ve had to run some scans on the kids computer, but I’m sure she’ll have her own report, complete with the pictures the Boy took, tomorrow.
What a difference a tire makes…
So, budgetted into this years AKDividends was 4 new tires for the jeep. We hadn’t ever gotten new tires for the thing, and bought it used, oh…. 6? years ago. Heh. How bad were they? Well, afterwards when i was paying, they told me they chose the best of the old tires to mount as my spare? But “We highly suggest you NOT need to use it…” Told you! It was in dire need! So, with that in mind, i made sure to set aside the money for it. I was offered studded tires for a savings of about 40 bucks, but well, I’m one of *those* people who gets lazy and forgets to get her studs removed until she’s stopped by the cops…more then once. heh. Expensive habit, that is. So! a few more bucks, and all weather’s were places on the jeep.
Now – the difference in driving I’ll notice when winter sets in, but the difference in the HEIGHT of the jeep I noticed RIGHT away. Yes. I almost fell flat on my face getting out of the jeep because the ground! it was not where it was supposed to be! in fact! it was a good 2 inches FARTHER AWAY!
Harumph.
Fortunately I wasn’t seen doing such a lovely stumbling stunt, but it has been the cause of much laughter as I tell the story. Only me, man. only me.
In other news – the “heart girl” from the previous entry did not show up to the dance, so the boy had no chance to make his move. He was disappointed, and I was for him, but part of me cheered too. Though admittedly, part of me was also annoyed for him. [the little tart! toying with my boys emotions!] Heh. Gotta love all that.
The pup had her program at the school yesterady, and it was quite cute, and she was a ptarmigan and looked fabulous in her handmade feather cap. They did a “time to sleep for winter” play and sang songs and had a good ole time showing off for us parents and grandparents.
A little more retail therapy today – more of the “i’m getting OUT OF THIS HOUSE” kind then buying out the store kind. As evidenced by one of the purchases. A real bra for The Girl. Man. The boy has little tarts all writting on him, and the girl has a real bra, and the pup had her first sleepover for a friends birthday party and…and.
I’M NOT READY FOR THIS!
*sob*
