Nashville Star – Original Songs

Posted by Lessa on July 26, 2008 in Nashville Star, NBC with Comments closed |

It’s original song night on Nashville star, and surprise, surprise, Coffey is back on top by Viewer votes. I don’t understand it, really, as his voice isn’t as strong as the others. he has stage presence though, and maybe that’s what is pushing him through. His song, Southern Man, has pretty catchy lyrics as well, so I figure he’s a sho-in for the finals at this point. Rich isn’t a fan, still, but the other judges are.

YAY! Melissa is up next and she’s only been writing for a few months, but her ballad is traditional and strong – Ready to Stand. It’s somewhat typical, but sometimes that’s what the crowd wants – and the judges love it too.

Gabe makes it into the automatic finalist spot last, and sings his original song “Lost Weekend. It’s something straight up radio, I think I could listen to any channel and hear it. He gets nagged, again, about his need to connect with the audience.

Ashley and Shawn are in the bottom two, and they both get to sing. Ashlee sings Mike’s Hard Lemonade, which is really pretty good – better then the others tonight, I think. Which naturally means she’s in big trouble tonight.

Shawn’s song is “Not looking back” which gets her very emotional – though it’s extremely typical, and the worst of the bunch.

Which, as I expected, means she gets a second chance. After a 15 minute delay (not really, but it was LONG) Ashlee is eliminated.

Sorry about the lack of posts – my desktop computer went down and we’re still trying to get it up and running. I’ve got the laptop, but the poor dear is laboring to keep up with everything I do. *pets him* But I’ll be getting caught up today, posting all the shows for the week, while crossing my fingers that my computer is back on the internet tonight. We have it built – we just need to get it to recognize the internet. Easier said then done, so far, but there’s always hope. At least I was able to access the old drives and get my info back – that made me squeal like a schoolgirl, truth be told!

So! Stay tuned and we’ll get this weeks recaps up asap!

As always – you can get all my Big Brother News over at Big Brother Craze!

So. the computer. It’s still not completely fixed, though it has been rebuilt completely from the floor up. Because, you know, it was tore up from the floor up. Haha. Ended up having to get a new hard drive, because the ordered motherboard didn’t support my drives. Good news is, said drives then could be set up in an external drive case, and I was able to recover EVERYTHING. This makes me giddy. There may have been happy squeals of a girlish nature, even.

Unfortunately, said motherboard also doesn’t recognize the internet. So we got an ethernet card – which apparently isn’t Vista compatible.

…so it works – deliciously fast even. But can’t get online. And as 95% of what I do is online… yeah. So he’s still trying to find a card that works and we’ll go from there.

In other news – Guess who passed lvl 3 swimming lessons today? That’s right – the pup is on her way to lvl 4, where they concentrate on all of the individual strokes, and getting the timing down in preparation for the swim team. She’s unofficially on the team – as she can swim the length of the pool on her belly and back, and thats the minimum requirements. Coach wants her to pass lvl 4 too, though, to get that much more of a head start when the season starts in November. Very proud kiddo, she is! And very proud are we, too!

Project Runway is back!

Posted by Lessa on July 21, 2008 in Bravo, Project Runway |

Without much fanfair this year – usually they’re shoving PR down our throats for weeks, but this time, it was a little understated. Maybe they’re out of ideas. Or maybe, they’re a bit pissy about the whole moving to Lifetime thing. Who can tell? Either way – either you’re in, or you’re out!

16 new designers this year, and they’re a properly freakish bunch with overinflated ideas about how fantastic they are. It’s gonna be a great year! Hahah! They revisit a challenge from the very first season, and the always lovely Austin Scarlett is there to guest judge – assuming he can see through all his makeup. They go shopping in a grocery store, and I’m all excited about some inovative stuff but… they lack serious vision as far too many grab the table cloths. BORING. Tim Gunn tells them how disappointed he is, and I cheer. Of course, Tim Gunn walks into a room and I cheer, but whatever.

So Stella makes a garbage bag dress, piecing it together at the last minute while bemoaning how she’s going home (…confident much?) and Blayne pieces together a very odd and kind of scary looking bathing suit of oven mitts and things, and Jerry Tam makes a rain coat – an UGLY raincoat – out of a shower curtain.

Korto saves her table cloth with some produce neckline, Daniel makes a completely awesomely fitted dress out of pastic cups, and Kelli rocks a cute and creatively dyed dress of vacuum bags and coffee filters – Kelli come out on top, and Jerry is sent packing with his fugly coat.

Shear Genius: DIY

Posted by Lessa on July 21, 2008 in Bravo, Shear Genius with Comments closed |

The short cut challenge this week was a fun one – to watch anyway as we gasped and laughed at the horror on the Stylists faces as they had to participate in it. They each choose their clients and then were told they will start with color, then when told to do so, the clients will switch chairs. The judging will be on the client that ends up in their chair, so they have to work with what they get. I think this is the best challenge EVER *L* Just from the looks of horror on their faces.

There are tears and mini therapy sessions, and really big bright ass Kool-aid red color for a blond. Heh. There were no real stand outs, but Dee comes out on top, and the red color job puts Meredith last. The stylists get all pissy and bitchy and snippy with each other afterwards at the loft, before they sleep and head back to the studio.

Dee picks the models for everyone, and gives Charlie the last spot in hopes of putting a crimp in his winning style – not that it matters as he has immunity from last week. The style is to be something easy for the client to maintain at home – and the kicker is the hair show isn’t until the next day, and they can’t help their clients as they do their own hair for the show – so teach ’em up good, folks!

At the elimination, Charlie is blasted for not doing color and playing it safe, so it’s a good thing he has immunity. Glenn comes out on top, and nearly passes out on the runway for it. ON the other end, Nekisa skates by once again, and Meridith gets cut. She, of course, says that the judges don’t know what they’re talking about. Naturally.
