Sometimes i can’t help but think “oh god, Lessa? You are so totally going to hell.” Then I continue to giggle hysterically over stuff like this<\/a>. Best line ever – “At this point, we’re concluding that this was probably a practice round before the real deal,” says Pastor DeLong. “That’s the only way this makes any sense. He left behind all of the wrong people. Why would He do that?”<\/p>\n

Oh. man. I found the link to that at Pesky Apostrophe last week sometime, and was able to resume giggling over it as I showed it to TBF today. hee.<\/p>\n

And man – why. on. earth. do typially intelligent people think that More Education=bad? Debate in SL chat today by someone who is really intelligent but believes that Sex education in school that includes access to free condoms gives a mix message that counteracts all he’s going to teach his kids about abstinance. He equates it to handing school kids clean needles for their drug use. <\/p>\n

GAH. One, if he’s done a good enough job teaching his kids – he don’t need to worry about the “mixed message” and two sex does not equal drugs and will not. Teaching kids the proper way to put on a condom is an education that should not be overlooked because Abstinence is the *only* safe sex. My favorite dyke was in there, and even SHE gave up talking to this guy because he wasn’t listening. I guess he’ll have to listen when his 15 year old daughter shows up pregnant. *smirk*<\/p>\n

I dunno. It just amazes me how people can think that more education on an issue such as sex can be bad. When presented with all the options, a well informed child can make a better decision, the right decision, without feeling pressured by outside forces. Sure, I believe it is fundamentally a parents job to teach such things. I think EVERY parent should be teaching their kids – however, it’s a very sad fact that a good 75% of parents expect the state\/government\/school to raise their children, for whatever reason. It is this deficit that we have to overcome, these are the kids that need to be reached. My son knows where the box of condoms are, and he also knows he can talk to me about it all. He’s very open with me and I’d never shut him down with “no sex is the only way. wait till your married” because 95% of kids do NOT wait until they are married. Hell, even I waited longer then most, and had a kid before I got married. <\/p>\n

So I cannot reconcile these things with “teach abstinance only”. If people cannot put 2 and 2 together and realize that abstinance only teaching areas have the highest teen birth rate across the nation – gah. it’s a sad, sad, stupid country we live in folks. stupid stupid stupid and sad.<\/p>\n

IN lighter news – I cannot possibly want to smack TBF any harder =- just because it snowed there, in SoCal, in April, does NOT make it ok for you to make me laugh at this, and somehow arrange it so that I then walk outside into SNOWFALL! I know most people would think it coincidence? but oh, I know you, TBF, you did this somehow…..<\/p>\n

Fortunately I repented of my gigglefit early enough that the snow stopped and there’s nary evidence to be seen that it was here…. but still. Bad TBF. no biscuit! *grin*<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
