So, The boy asked me today “mom, can I ride my bike into town and grab a soda at McDonalds and come home?” <\/p>\n

I said no.
\nHe asked why.<\/p>\n

Erm. Unfortunately the “Because I’m not ready for you to be that old yet!” didn’t work. You know, I’m having no problem telling people that I am 34 years old now. But telling people and dealing with the fact that my son is 12 years old? THAT is KILLING me! *Sobs* I am not old enough to deal with this!<\/p>\n

I let him go, of course, but did the same thing my parents did (though for me, it was 7-11, and a payphone outside). He had to call me from the payphone there when he arrived, as well as before he left so that I knew exactly when he was on the bike trail. It’s just barely a mile into town, so it’s not like its a LONG way… but still. *Sob* This push for independance is going to kill me.<\/p>\n

And then I found a box, all taped up, that I didn’t know what was inside….
\nOh. My. God. Baby pictures. Baby footprints. Baby diapers. Just… man.<\/p>\n
