One - if there was ANY doubt why I cave in and give the niece and nephews whatever they want, this should clear it up. I dare you to resist. DARE YOU.
And! Today, the pup swam her first official, unassisted, 25m Free Style, complete with side breathing today.
Her backstroke is still awesome too - and she could make the 25 easy, but someone else was using the deep end so they couldn’t do it today. Probably tomorrow.
And her breaststroke is doing pretty well too. Girly should pass without a problem on Friday - then it’s swim team in November.
Why on earth do these kids keep insisting on growing up? 14 years ago today, she came into my life - a week late (and she’s been late ever since!) and almost 10 pounds of bouncing baby girl. My joy, my trial, my partner in all things of the snarkilicious variety… my daughter. My First Daughter.
Every day is a treat, a delight in something new. She’s sensitive, caring, smart, snarky, bitchy, delightful, open, daring, strong, sassy. She’s everything I could have asked for and more. Fourteen years. Seems like yesterday…
Happy Birthday, Snarkette. I love you.
PS. Please try to keep from killing the budget as I pay for that phone, huh? TIA!
So. the computer. It’s still not completely fixed, though it has been rebuilt completely from the floor up. Because, you know, it was tore up from the floor up. Haha. Ended up having to get a new hard drive, because the ordered motherboard didn’t support my drives. Good news is, said drives then could be set up in an external drive case, and I was able to recover EVERYTHING. This makes me giddy. There may have been happy squeals of a girlish nature, even.
Unfortunately, said motherboard also doesn’t recognize the internet. So we got an ethernet card - which apparently isn’t Vista compatible.
…so it works - deliciously fast even. But can’t get online. And as 95% of what I do is online… yeah. So he’s still trying to find a card that works and we’ll go from there.
In other news - Guess who passed lvl 3 swimming lessons today? That’s right - the pup is on her way to lvl 4, where they concentrate on all of the individual strokes, and getting the timing down in preparation for the swim team. She’s unofficially on the team - as she can swim the length of the pool on her belly and back, and thats the minimum requirements. Coach wants her to pass lvl 4 too, though, to get that much more of a head start when the season starts in November. Very proud kiddo, she is! And very proud are we, too!
Earlier:
Me: Hey! Why you in my car?! Who said you could go home with me?
Buglet: My Muhver!
Me: Well, she’s not the boss of me! Who’s the boss of me?
Buglet: I AM!
Me: …oh.
Later:
Me: Hey! Bring that ear back here, I was gonna bite it!
Buglet: NOOO! Is not yer lunch!
Me: Course not, I had dinner, it’s my desert!
Buglet: NOO! IS NOT DESERT!
Me: Why? Isn’t it sweet and sugary like you?
Buglet: NO!
Me: Is it sour and rotten?
Buglet: Noooooo.
Me: What is it then?
Buglet: SPICY STUFFS!
Or well, something like that! It’s a big day for the Pup, that’s for sure! Today, after working hard for just 7 lessons, she passed out of Level 2 swimming with flying colors! She was SO EXCITED when she got her certificate that she FORGOT to grab her CANDY in her rush to get the paper over to me to show off and tell me that she had done it! Sure, she went back for the candy, but that she forgot her sugar high for even that long? Testament to how much this means to her.
Here’s a vid of her last day in class:
In just this short of time her head bobbing free style is less bobby, and she’s starting to pick up side breathing, her backstroke is lean and strong, and she goes off the diving board with no hesitations - she even goes FIRST now instead of watching the other kids go first. I think we FINALLY found her sport. Group sports/Team sports were always a competition for attention, and now she is competing first and foremost against herself, even though she’ll be part of a team too. Even though her one great wish is to BEAT THE PANTS OFF HER COUSINS over the next year. Here’s hoping she does that at least once before the testosterone kicks off in the boys and they leave her in the dust.
Speaking of the nephews - it was another big day for D-man too! Check it out!
