HAPPY HAPPY!

Oh. Yes. Much. Happy! OMG. Who cares that the heat was gone last night and I gotta come up with the cash to pay for it on top of what I already owe dad (I haven’t forgotten, honest. *sigh* Just… things. you know. gah. a week from Friday, I swear.) and everything else that’s going on and shit….

But see – today was a very big day! One of my favorite Author’s, Terry Goodkind, released the next in his Sword of Truth seriest today. Chainfire is the 9th book, and the first of a Trilogy that will bring the entire series to a close. This is bittersweet, of course, as no one wants to see it end, but knows it will have too eventually, that kind of thing.

ANYWAY.

Two days ago, Terry Goodkind gave the guy who runs his website a message for us avid fans. He had signed 7000+ books, and rather then give them at book signings and such, he had them randomly distributed over the US – so no one knew where they were going, and everyone had a rather sporting chance to find one (no matter how some people are bitching that there aren’t any in their areas. Christ. buncha whiners!)

Now, 100 of these are signed in green ink instead of red, and 10 of them have Wizard’s ninth rule hand written in them (and numbered) and one has a very special message that no one knows what it is yet – as its not been found.

So I’m watching the website and seeing people find them, and other bitching because they couldn’t, and some complaining that some stores seemed to have tons, while others had none at all.. bitch bitch moan complain. *snort* So I finally made a post…

There is no ‘real’ bookstore in my town. The sistercity has a very small one, but they can’t even ORDER one until the release date, and it takes a week. The closest bookstore to me is 3 hour drive (one way!) away through snow-covered slushy icey mountain pass. So be glad that you CAN go to 3 and 4 cities and multiple stores to look for these books.. at least you get to hunt. I’d be happy just to have the book – period. Signed or not.

Heh. I then had to explain that I lived in Alaska, and such. So – knowing it wasn’t going to happen, I called the small bookstore here to see if they happened to have the book. They didn’t of course, but would order it. I told them I’d call back when I had the money in hand (2 weeks from now.)

And then, on a whim, I called Barnes and Noble in Anchorage and asked A, a very nice gal, if they had the book. They did. WHOOT! Then. I asked THE question…..

Any signed ones?

And she said…

“Yes, actually. we have 3 left.”

OMFG! So I started to droll a little, and wriggle a little and she said… “Let me go make sure, and then we’ll hold it for you..”

And I was speachless and gibbering all at the same time and stammering my excitement… She checked them all to see if there were any green or special ones, but they were all red, which i ASSURED her hastily that it was perfectly fine for me, i didn’t even expect them to have the BOOK yet, let alone have gotten and had some signed copies left. She chuckled and said she’d hold it for me for three days….

So I called Christa immediately, and begged and promised to pay her back later, and pleaded, and she said “Sure! I’ll go get it for you at 6:30 tonight…” and she’s gonna mail it to me too, so that I can hold it in my little hands and read it most carefully… can you believe it?

I! here! in ALASKA! in the middle of NO WHERE! have a SIGNED FIRST EDITION of Terry Goodkind’s new release, Chainfire.

OMFG. I’m SO HAPPY!

*beams*

and Miss A, at Barnes and Noble, has my undying love and grattitude in ways that are not at all smarmy or sweaty or vulgar. (unless Christa tells me she’s CUTE to boot, and then well, no promises. hee.)

*bo-pounces!*
