AGT – Week 2 auditions!
The freaks and geeks and talented peeps are out in style once again as we try to discover if America, does indeed, have talent. As always, with the audition process, i remain ever doubtful of our ability to judge our own talents. Me, I *KNOW* I have no talent that doesn’t involve hiding behind a screen and tapping away on a keyboard. These guys? Not so much.
Take the first act, for instance. A 55 year old singing fairy that brags of her 3 and a half octave voice. And she sings Disney’s “When you wish upon a star” while dressed as a fairy, natch. And it wasn’t her decision to become a Fairy Singer, it chose her. I’m already cringing, and you think I’m kidding, right? Wrong. Brace yourself:
On the other end of the spectrum is the Russian Bar Trio, who are flat out awesome and make me and the kids yell at the cameramen for showing us more reactions then the act itself.
At least two of the judges, of course, ADORE the “Grinding Act” by Miss Pussycat. Shocker there. She makes it through to Vegas on the strength of her personality, and the Hoff’s “Pussycat, pussycat, I love you!”
There were a number of other acts that were good as well, and a nice selection went through to Vegas – but the absolute stand out act of the night was Eli Mattson, who traveled over 2000 miles to audition. I’ve never been overly fond of “Walking in Memphis”, but Eli, he made me love the song. He’s incredible – so much so Sharon said she couldn’t believe that he hadn’t already been signed. So here you go – Eli Mattson:
We’re one step closer to Vegas week, and the top acts in the country – but of course, we’ve still more auditions to sit through next week.
