Everyone goes Blonde!
This Monday on Legally Blonde the Musical, everyone went, well, BLOND. Can’t play Elle Woods without looking the part, after all! They’re all focusing on “becoming Elle Woods, inside and out” Nice. It’s odd though, Bailey freaks out about the ‘makeover’ which for her involved barely a trim and a slightly warmer color – that’s all. She even bursts into tears when they get out the scissors! Someone call Tyra, STAT!
After the requisite ooohs and aaaaahs at the transformations, they finally get o meet Laura Bell Bundy, the current Elle Woods on Broadway. She talks about their inner Elle Woods, and how she’s grown into a more positive person who’s true to herself through her experience in playing Elle Woods.
…I know, right? All that pink is killing their brain cells, seriously.
Anyway, time for a photoshoot, where they’ll all be dressed the same, but get to choose accessories and hope to stand out. If they win, they get to go to lunch with Andy Karl, Emmett’s understudy. Natalie rocked it out, and heads off to lunch where they talk about the song Legally Blonde and how meaningful a ballade it rally is.
The girls are off to rehearsal, where they all decide the song completely speaks to them and many tears are shed and it’s all like emotional and impresses Seth and Denis with how seriously they’re taking it.
Audition time has a confident Autumn wowing the judges, and even bringing Heather to tears. Bailey falls flat and doesn’t really connect, Natalie doesn’t wow and the judges aren’t sure she’s right for the job as Lauren wow’s the judges while they worry about Rhiannon’s strength vocally. Two are declared safe – Autumn and Lauren, and Bailey, Natalie and Rhiannon head to the casting office.
Baily is told she needs to step it up and be authentic if she wants the role, and Rhiannon is clued in that they don’t think she’s strong enough even though she lights up the stage. Even so, they keep them both and cut Natalie as they just can’t see her as Elle.
