One way… or another…
Heh. So – I know this Author – C.E.Murphy, who I went to high school with, and who is hitting it big with Luna books and the Harlequin Bombshell line – really big! I couldn’t be prouder to say “hey – I went to school with her!” and of course am totally jealous of her success too. *L* Comes with the territory as I try to get enough mojo together to go through my own future break-out novel and edit once again before beginning the submission process all over again. But! proud! naturally!
So anyway – I sent her the following email last night:
Ok – so my sister had gotten me a gift card a while back and I hadn’t used it for anything so when Thunderbird Falls came out – and I finally remembered I still had said gift card – and I also remembered where I’d PUT said gift card – I went “aHA!” as I am known to do and rushed right to amazon to get it.
And get it i did! Yesterday! and I’ve been reading it, but taking a very much longer time then I usually do…
…not because it isn’t as riviting as the first – it is! I want to know what happens next!
…but, because you are an EVIL EVIL EVIL WOMAN!
Couldn’t you have WARNED ME ABOUT ALL THE DAMN SNAKES? OMFG! I’m so freakin phobic it ain’t funny and they’re on EVERY FUCKING PAGE! ok – not really, but they’re there! slithering! just under the last page I read and the way that next one is undulating I have a feeling that I ain’t finished squickin out yet… THERE’S BOUND TO BE MORE!
GAH! woman! You’re gonna KEEL ME!
*sobs all dramatically and shit*
Seriously! a little warning next time? please? *pleads with puppydog eyes and EVERYTHING!*
Off I go to read more – do you KNOW how hard it is to read while covering your eyes and peeking through fingers and being TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY SQUICKED OUT???
YES! it is exactly *THAT* hard!
harumph.
Which brought a reply that included laughter, and a promise that there are *no* snakes in the next book. And then! THIS!!
Now I’m going to have to sneak a snake into one of the later books just to make you go AAAGH!
*GASP!* See! I *told* you she was EVIL! Harumph. Never has the pups latest obsessively sung song seemed more appropriate… (damn the commercial that gets this stuck in her head, since I end up listening to it over and over and over and over and over and over…)
Regardless of the snakes - i finished the book this morning and will be passing it on to Nana Moosie - and if you haven't yet, I demand you go forth RIGHT NOW and buy the available first two books of the Walker Papers - Urban Shawman and Thunderbird Falls. Fastpaced, enjoyable, and a *very* likable heroine as well as the supporting cast, with many AUGH! moments and just a lotta good stuff!
GO! BUY! NOW! You won't be sorry you did! (waiting my copies of the first two books of her other series too - I'll letcha know what I think of them as well.) (Yes, she has already published an inSANEly amount of books in the past year, with more in the works.. WHERE IS MY MOJO? *L* I neeeeeeeeed my mojo!)
