Ahhhhhhh, school!

Thankfully everything’s already sliding into a schedule. No big trials getting the kids up OR to bed, which is shocking. The boy goes straight to his shower at 6am, and gets dressed and collapses on the couch to sleep again. The Girl does it a bit differently – she gets up, hits the shower, then gets dressed, then starts to dry her hair, then does the careful mirror check, then tries to decide if she can get away with makeup (no) and settles on clear lipgloss (if that) and then if the boy’s hair is still wet she’ll dry it real fast too, and then they’re both out the door between 6:50 and 7am headed to the Moosies house for breakfast – the boy still grumping, the girl all smiles. Night and day, those two.

Then it’s time for the pup to get up, and she’s quite quick like a bunny to get up and dressed, then it’s 25-30 minutes of “is it time NOW? i’m HUNGRY!” as she waits for her turn to go to the Moosies at 8am. This morning Papa made her day by walking down to get her and walk back with her. He was clearly sucking up since the first day of school we were both in trouble – he didn’t stop to pick her up, and i made her walk in the rain. Bad Mommy. Heh. and the pup! SO! DRAMATIC!

Then, by 8:10? I’m back in bed for my nap. Hahahhaha! It’s awesome. People are always telling me I’m spoiled, and I totally am. *L* Since I tend to be awake until 2-3am, it’s nice to know I can get another couple hours of sleep undisturbed in the mornings before all the kids get home again.

The PerfectMac client? He called one day and woke me up at like 9am. Then the last time he called it was at 10 – and both times he woke me up. He was all “Huh. I woke you up AGAIN? I guess you must be one of those noon to midnight people.” and I’m like “yeah, I’m a night owl” and he was all kinda snooty “Well, it’s YOUR business.” and I wanted to smash his head into his mac. *smirk*

The pup’s report of her first day was this: “MOM! it’s just the same as it was LAST year, just with Mrs. K instead of Mrs. L! And those kids don’t have ANY fashion sense, cuz no one liked my outfit but Mrs. K! But that’s ok, I looked FANTASTIC.” I asked her if she was reading, and she said “I HATE reading. But Art and Math and Science I totally love!” Ok, so clearly I need to get her books about art and math and science. Heh. Hopefully this is the year everything clicks for her.

The girl’s report was “me and my friends THIS and then we THAT and omg I have someone I like in EACH CLASS and digital storytelling is gonna be SO COOL and mom can I borrow your camera and will you burn things onto a disk for me and and and and and and oh here’s a ton of papers to fill out and a list of all the fees due” I love that she’s in digital storytelling and think she’ll do really well. She’s got an excellent eye for pictures and how to put them together – and thats what they’ll be doing, creating slide shows to music and such. She’s gonna love it – and be REALLY good at it.

The boy? Well, as expected, his was “No homework yet, locker won’t open, so shared with TGHLSB (the girl he’s loved since birth) and (Dramatic sigh) Gosh I really like her. Anyway, janitor will open tomorrow, and here’s all my fees and paperwork.”

And that was basically it. Until right before bed the night of day one “Oh yeah, I need 3 three-ring binders for my homework in those classes – gotta turn in the notebooks.”…. so I went to the store at 10pm to get said notebooks. Fortunately I found some black ones, because I had threatened him with pink and purple – and lo and behold at first all I could FIND were pink and purple. I dug around and came up with the black ones though, much to his relief. *chuckles*

Fee-wise, without the price of the Girl’s band uniform (as I won’t know how much that is until we go shopping for the black pants, black shoes and black socks), we’re up to 80 bucks. Hopefully when we qualify for the free lunches (which we will, without a doubt) they’ll also cover those fees so i don’t have to worry about it. If not, well, I’ll be alright – I always am. most of them don’t have to be paid until next month, anyway. Of course, next month, we also have school pictures. *L* Oy! It never ends! Then if The boy decides to join a club, or any of them decide to play a sport, there will be even MORE fees. It’s alright though – it’ll all come together.

So – the first two days down, and alls well, and we’re all gonna survive. Whew. Just like always – just one day at a time.
