Day 27 and the blinking cursor of doom.

Posted by Lessa on November 27, 2006 in NaBloPoMo 2006, this-n-that |

Wow. only 3 days left after today, and I’m staring at the blinking cursor of doom. I’m sure I have something rattling around in my head I could write about, but really – do you want to hear how much better my kids are then yours AGAIN? Cuz that could totally be arranged, you know. Easy as pie.

Anyway.

Blinkyblinkyblinky.

I mentioned briefly before that I once took part in the Christmas Comes to Kenai festivities. While digging up some truly amusing pictures of Nana and Papa for the girl for her recent storytelling project, I ran across a picture of that Christmas. It was back when they had the whole she-bang outside, no matter the weather, because we didn’t have the fancy Visitor’s Center that we have now. In fact, Bookey’s was still where the center is now – and dude, ya ain’t NEVER had a burger n fries until ya had a bookey’s burger n fries! Too bad ya gotta go all the way to anchorage for a taste now….Anyway! Santa had arrived by dogsled, by fire engine (like he does every year, now) and various other things. The favorite and most exciting, of course, was when he came via helicopter. Now THAT’s making an entrance!

So mom knew some people, and they needed someone to be in costume to arrive with him. They had elves freezing in little costumes handing out hot chocolate and cookies but that year they needed Frosty and Rudolf to join in. And so – we were chosen, and got to ride in the helicopter. Nana couldn’t see anything because she had her head on, but Rudolf’s head was too tall,, so I had to put it on as I exited the copter, thus I got to see everything. Nana will swear that we circled 18bajillion times, but it was only three or so. Then we landed, hopped out and escorted Santa to his chair where he welcomed all the kids and listened to their first lists of the season. It was loads of fun – even if it was a bit chilly. How can ya tell? Well look!

(see – told ya I had SOMETHING to write about. *L*)
