Busy busy busy!

Posted by Lessa on October 17, 2006 in family, this-n-that |

It’s been all about programs and concerts around here the past few days (with one more still to go!).

TheGirlChoir10-12-06 First, last thursday (and what a bad mommy-blogger am I that I haven’t mentioned it yet!) was The Girl’s Choir concert, the first of the year. They sounded beautiful, though there was considerably more figiting then Ms. B would have liked. When she made the comment at the end that they still had work to do, Nana and I looked at each other and went “They’s gonna get a TALKIN TOO!” and they did. But, for the first concert of the year it was very good!

If….

Posted by Lessa on October 16, 2006 in family, this-n-that |

…you’ve ever doubted that my smalltown Alaska is the best place to raise kids – I can now offer you proof that this town is as FAMILY FRIENDLY as it gets! Photographic proof, even! Beyond a shadow of a doubt! And the following makes me giggle everytime I see it. I can’t get Cal Worthington’s car commercials outa my head whenever I see it. You know the one “Come on down, and bring the kids! We’ll see ya here!”

Heh.

The older kids are home already (oh! the cooing!) and the pup’ll be here in 40 minutes or so, where the cooing will go up another notch. (..already increased by TheGirl’s best friends who are spending the night. *L*) Pictures of them to be added later, most likely. *L*

Drownin in the cuteness, we are!

Man. I should be RICH, I tell ya. RICH!

Singsong this morning to the lines of “Oh Susanna, don’t you cry for me! I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee” – adlibbed and totally made up on the spot:
~~

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! With the freckles on her nose!
She all lean and 8 feet tall from her nose to her toes!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! With the boogers in her nose!
I once saw dig for gold, using only her toes!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! With the long and stanky feet,
She’s got smarts and super farts that really can’t be beat!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! With the long and skinny neck
She talks and talks and talks and talks and always gives you he..ck!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! With the super skinny butt!
Too bad she talks and talks and talks – her mouth is never shut!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! Is the super star with class
Thank god she finally put on clothes I’m sick of seein her ass!

JeeeeeeeeessiAnna! has just confessed a crush!
She’ll love this Tristan boy all day, her insides turned to mush!

~~

Heh. there were more, too. Needless to say she spent most of the morning repeating “MO-OOOOOOOOOM!!!!” and totally smacking me on the head as she walked by getting ready for school.  Hee!

Euro-Trip for the boy

Posted by Lessa on October 11, 2006 in this-n-that with Comments closed |

(moved from ‘page’ status)

For the boy!

It’s the reason for that little donate button on the main page.

And now! CHIPIN has relaunched finally! See main page!

We found out this evening that he does indeed qualify for the High School Choir trip to Europe over spring break! YAY! She was able to arrange things to where all the kids who wished to go, could, which opened up a seat for The Boy.The bad news is – it’s MUCHO EXPENSIVE to send him. They do a couple big fundraisers, but the money is given as a ‘refund’ during the trip. Most kids use it for spending money. heh. Anyway, it’s very expensive, and as you all know, I’m on a very limited budget. So – while I hate to ask/beg/plead for any money for myself, I have absolutely no shame in begging for help for my kids.

This trip is a once in a lifetime event. My sister got to go with the choir way back in 92 when TheBoy was only a week or so old, and she had a wonderful time. She still remembers so many details and it’s a shining event of her high school choir years. I spent two summers (86 and 88) in Europe working on Mission Trips. I still talk about it – it’s something that doesn’t happen very often, especially for kids around here.

I want my son to have this opportunity, but $3400 is spendy. Very spendy. In fact, it’s about 2 months income for me. I used a good portion of our recent Ak Perm Fund Dividends to write a check for $1550 for the downpayment today.

So, I ask you, all you angels of the internet, if you would help my son achieve his desire. He vows to keep his grades up, and take many pictures and tell many stories of his trip and send postcards to each and every person who donates and gives us a snail mail address so that we can.

I vow to love you forever.

Every little bit helps – be it $5 or $50. I wanted to set up a chipin account, but it seems to be down for a while as they relaunch the site. As soon as it is up, I will definitely get that in the works as well. For now, I set up a new paypal account with my other email address (diTerces [at] gmail [dot] com). This paypal account is strictly for his trip, and all money donated will go to that end. I will keep a running total on this page, and hopefully we can send my boy to France and Spain with his choir.

I thank you in advance for anything you can do to help – be it donate, or helping me spread the word to others so they can donate. I’ve seen you angels do amazing things, and I hope with all my heart that you will open your hearts to my son and help him achieve his dream.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Have you been wondering if its worth donating to help the boy go to Europe with the Choir? I mean – are they REALLY good enough to sing in Europe? Its not enough for ME to say they are, I know. Cuz I’m mom. But! Click the link above (Choir Clips) or here and listen to the clips (on my poor regular camera, so it’s not GREAT quality – oh but the voices shine) and then decide.

Want to know more about the trip to be sure you’re getting your donations money’s worth? Why SURE! I included links to places where I could find them as well.
