Aaaaaaaand… where were YOU…

The Pup …7 years ago today? I can tell you exactly where I was! I was in the Hospital, getting all nicely drugged up, needles in the back and the like, and being very chipper as I’d decided just to SKIP that whole silly Labor thing this time around and just get to the real party! Thus, in the wee hours of May 18th, 1999, they sliced n diced me up and delivered a very scrawny, screamy, delightfully fulla personality already, Pup.

We had been told to expect another big baby from the measurements the day before at the ultrasound, and well, they were partically right! She was LONG! 21 inches. And SKINNY! She weighed in as my SMALLEST baby, at just 7lbs 6oz. Thus, she was in reality so tiny she had to wear premie diapers for a MONTH! But what she lacked in actual mass, she gained in personality. I had to wait for a couple hours to see her as I got stuck in recovery due to a nursing shortage (they wouldn’t just wheel me down the hall with 1 nurse, had to be 2, and they forgot about me until Kevin pitched a FIT) and thus she was able to bond with her auntie (who gave her her first binky) and Nana (who patted her wee lil bum) before I got to meet her.

When I finally wrapped my arms around her and made sure all her pieces n parts were there, it was love at first sight. I knew she’d be my challenge, and my joy. She was different from the other two from the start, demanding her own identity and presense, demands that would not be denied!

And I can say, without a doubt – I love her more today then I did back then, even though then I would have said it was impossible to even conceive such.

So! Happy birthday, my Pup! I wouldn’t change a second of these 7 years, and look forward to many many more. (and FINE. I’ll go get you CUPCAKES to take to SCHOOL. SHEESH!)

PS: Happy birthday to you too, Furball! (How nice was I to have your pup on your birthday, hm? *winks*)

Well! After the snow, it’s sure been nice to see BLUE SKIES all over, and feel them temps creep ever upward! In fact, while the girls grabbed thier photohunt pictures, I made sure to snap a few shots of the brilliant sky… and of course, my beaYOOOOOOOtiful girls!

Speaking of BEAYOOTIFUL girls? Um. Well. The Sniffles in the title? It’s the annual “Last Dance” at the middle school, which means it’s the First Dance for the 6th graders – most importantly for MY 6th grader, The Girl. *SOB* I was a good mom though, and let the boy skip out to go to a b-day party instead, so that she could experience it without him being all lurky and making her life miserable. Though I did threaten to chaperone (MUCH to her DISMAY!) but in the end, I simply took a picture. Or two. And let her go. *sniffles*

I’M NOT OLD ENOUGH FOR THIS CRAP! And don’t EVEN remind me that the end of this school year means the boy is going to HIGH SCHOOL next year. Because I KNOW. and it’s AWFUL. and I”M NOT THAT OLD GOSHDARNITALL!!!

*sob*
*sniff*
*whimper*

UPDATED TO ADD:

Danced a lot, mostly with herself. All cept those THREE 8th GRADE BOYS who asked her to dance, wanting to DANCE WITH “THE BOY’s SISTER”!!! OMFG. And they were “sooooooooo CUTE!” and like. “Omg I had so much fun!”

Yes! TWO POSTS! happy now? *grin*

In the Parenting Guide to Traumatizing Teenagers category:

We see the commercial where there’s a dancing bear singing Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing” being given to a mom for Mother’s Day. They’re dancing, she’s mortified, but trying to get into the groove, I’m humming the song. Cue the convo:

TheBoy: “Course with that song, it’s TOTALLY not appropriate for MOTHER’S DAY!”
The Girl: “No kidding! Sheesh!”
Me, the oh so innocently smiling mom, oh so nanchalant and offhandedly commenting: “Why not? After all, I’m a mom, and I ‘Like to do the wild thing!’ bum, bum bum de bum!”

Their reaction? Well, ya don’t get the screaming – but it looked a little like this:

traumatized!

With many attempts to claw eyes out, and desires stated to scrub their brains. And me? I’m the one laughing hysterically while attempting to hold the camera still to capture this Kodak moment. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
