The Boy.
March 1992 and Fall 2005.
Today, he is officially old enough to get his Driving Learner’s Permit.
*SOB!*

It was 1992. He cried. OH how he cried. His little face was wrinkly and red and his little head all cone shape and he screamed with his whole body. His daddy cried, His momma cried. And all of us were in awe of this little tiny person we finally got to see, touch, cuddle, console, teach, and learn from.

8:00 am: Yes. 8am. Woken up by whispers. “Can we watch anothermovie? Shhh! Don’t step on me! Auntie? Are you SLEEPING? why are you SLEEPING? hey JJ! wake up! Auntie’s SLEEPING!”

8:01 am: buglet SMILES at me when I peel open my eyes. Smiles. at 8:01. Clearly this is an alien child.

8:15 am: movie in, break out the Dora Chutes and Ladders game

8:30 am: hear the first “Stop trying to get me into TROUBLE” comments.

8:31 am: “dont TELL me how to play my game! it’s MY GAME” the pup, of course.

8:45 am: HOW can the girl still be SLEEPING? gah. Make sure all meds are taken, and sit and grumble while buglet still SMILES. wtf? *L*

9:00 am: demands for breakfast begin. consider feeding them potatochips instead of waffles. give in and make waffles. am told that papa’s breakfasts are BETTER.

9:01 am: give them chips while the waffles cook. heh.

9:05 am: and popsicles for desert

9:09 am: oooooooh out comes the lipstick. the girls disappear to the bathroom to preen before the mirror.

9:36 am: D-man decides that the tv should be off before they turn into veges. I tell him he doesn’t have to watch, while harboring a glimmer of hope that all these children vege’s will make a lovely stew for lunch.. MUHAHAHA….

5:35:05 pm: Sacha decides she wants to move out. Cannot locate the cat.

5:45 pm: well, she made it as far as the driveway, where she’s talking to Papa. Kids have set up their sleeping bags, and are watching Danny Phantom.

5:46 pm: first mass rush to the bathroom – why do I only have ONE bathroom again??

5:50 pm: Give the kids the run down of what will happen tonight, [dinner/movie with papa, eat whatever ya want whenever ya want, NO BEDTIME! movies all night!] and let them watch cartoons until time to go to Papa’s for Pizza and Harry Potter.

5:55 pm: Check for Wizards/Celtics highlights online, as that is where my son is RIGHT NOW. 104-104 in the 4th. nice. Shoulda checked at 5:44. heh.

So. This weekend.

Saturday saw me and the boy getting up bright and early to go and have breakfast with Gramma and Papa before he, gramma and I headed off to Anchorage. Much fun was had (after much grumbling about the hour – it’s not MY fault he’d been up since 4am all too excited to sleep!) and we hit the road at about 9am, after a stop for coffee. The boy settled into the back seat with my portable dvd player, and gramma and I chit-chatted all the way up. It was a beautiful drive, clear roads, pretty skies, and two VERY excited kiddos. (…The Boy and Gramma, of course!)

HappyBoyOnce in Anchorage, we were nice, and took the boy to Carl’s Jr. for lunch, though we kept threatening him with Chinese. hee.

He gave the burger a smile and thumbs up and agreed that waiting until the one down here opens is gonna drive him insane! Fortunately they should be opening in a couple weeks.
