Chainfire
It’s HERE! It got yesterday finally! My signed 1st edition of Terry Goodkind’s Chainfire. I started reading immediately at about…. 4pm yesterday. I finished at 10:30am this morning.
Savor it? Oh i DID. but when I got to a place I thought “well maybe I could stop here and sleep…” It was already 5:30 am and I had to get the boy up an hour later ANYway.
So I’m tired. hee. but it was worth it.
MUCH worth it. Course, now I have to wait for a YEAR for part 2 of the next one….. Needless to say I’ll reread the whole series numerous times between now and then. *chuckles*
And – my jittery? I won an amazon gift certificate! yay! now… what to buy to keep me occupied between now and the next SoT book……

Neither in the books – we’re talking sell back value people! That and I can never find a highlighter when I need one. IN general, if it MUST be, it’s usually underlined.

I’m probably the biggest dweeb in the world, but I’ve never read Tolkien.

Fiction, totally, all the way. If I want reality, I can just look out my front door – shit that’s seen there is stranger then any fiction for sure.

A Few Pages per Sitting or Finish at Least a Chapter?
All about the chapters. And being late for something because there’s just a few more pages left and it’s THAT good… And I’m all about getting zero sleep to finish a really good book too.
Buy or borrow?
Steal. Just kidding. heh. Buy when I can, borrow when I can’t. I’m a big re-reader, I want my books HERE all the time so I can just pick them up and reread my favorites whenever I want.
Book Reviews or Word of Mouth?
Both, but I trust word of mouth more.
Audio or Hardcopy
Hardcopy – i cannot ‘listen’ to a book! the voice throws me off, and then puts me to sleep.
Screen (computer, PDA, etc) or Hardcopy
For reading anything longer then blogsized entries – hardcopy. Too much reading online makes my eyes go all squiggly…. though I do it all the time. *L* No wonder I need to get a new perscription for me glasses, hm?
Angst, with a healthy side o’drama, please!
So I’ve been editing a bit tonight, something I do just for me and Darlin who’s begging me for more on an hourly basis now. *L* She’s not read the end of it, see, and she’s hooked. So I made her help edit, so she can finally find out how it all ends. Of course, there’s still things that are changing, rearranging and some timeline issues I still have to work out – but overall, the editing is going pretty well.
I have a friend in Sweden who’s actually got a publisher who wants to look at it right away too. Of course, this is a Swedish publisher, so that’s a little different and odd to me, but at least *someone* is wanting to look at it, right? If he wants to see it, I’m sure that more localized people will want too as well. At least that’s what I’m hoping.
I’m considering consolidating some chapters, expanding others, and there’s part of one I may chuck all together. I’ve come to the conclusion that the writing of the story is the EASY part. It’s the editing that will kill ya!
And still – I beg ya – help me get a new monitor! for free!

Update on the Asshole:
When we last left the bitching, he was complaining about the sleep test and being in anchorage. The day of his sleep test finally arrived and he was wired up so much he couldn’t fall asleep and ended up having to take a sleeping pill. The next morning, they declared that he did not have sleep Apnea.
Um. huh? He’s had that most of his life!
So now they say that he has a 25% chance of having narcalepsy, and he needs a second, more extensive test. They originally said it wouldn’t be until February before he could have said test, but they managed to wrangle him an opening for tonight. Christa was a love and drove him down here that day, and spent the weekend with us [giving me some MUCH NEEDED girl ventage time], and then drove him back up to anchorage today for the next test.
